Stanley Fields (born Walter L. Agnew; May 20, 1883April 23, 1941) was an American actor. Biography On Broadway, Fields performed in ''Fifty Miles from Boston'' (1908) and ''The Red Widow'' (1911). After that, for eight years, Fields performed in vaudeville with Frank Fay. he started on a film career with a screen debut as a gunman in her talkie '' New York Nights''. In 1930, he signed a long-term contract with Paramount Pictures. He died on April 23, 1941, of a heart attack. ''Algiers'' is a 1938 American drama film directed by John Cromwell and starring Charles Boyer, Sigrid Gurie, and Hedy Lamarr. Written by John Howard Lawson, the film is about a notorious French jewel thief hiding in the labyrinthine native quarter of Algiers known as the Casbah. Feeling imprisoned by his self-imposed exile, he is drawn out of hiding by a beautiful French tourist who reminds him of happier times in Paris. ''Cimarron'' is a 1931 pre-Code epic Western film directed by Wesley Ruggles, starring Richard Dix and Irene Dunne, and featuring Estelle Taylor and Roscoe Ates.
