Stanislovas Kęsgaila (died 1532)
Stanislovas Kęstgaila (1503–1532) was a Lithuanian nobleman, son of Stanislovas Kęsgaila from the Kęsgailos family. Stanislovas Kęstgaila was the Elder of Samogitia (1527–1532) and castellan of Trakai (1528–1532). After marriage to Anna, daughter of Stanisław Kiszka, Stanislovas was the wealthiest magnate in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. When Stanislovas was appointed as the Elder of Samogitia in 1527, Grand Duke Sigismund I the Old limited power and income of the elder as 17 volosts were transferred to Grand Duke's jurisdiction. The elder was left with 8 volosts ( Karklėnai, Kražiai, Medingėnai, Patumšiai, Pavandenė, Tendžiogala, Viduklė and Žarėnai) that had only about 10% of the Samogitian population. The Lithuanian nobility or szlachta (Lithuanian: ''bajorija, šlėkta'') was historically a legally privileged hereditary elite class in the Kingdom of Lithuania and Grand Duchy of Lithuania (including during period of foreign rule 1795–1918) consisting of Lithuanians from Lithuania Proper; Samogitians from Duchy of Samogitia; following Lithuania's eastward expansion into what is now Belarus, Ukraine and Russia, many ethnically Ruthenian noble families (''boyars''); and, later on, predominantly Baltic German families from the Duchy of Livonia and Inflanty Voivodeship. Pavandenė ( Samogitian: ''Pavondenė'', pl, Powondeń) is a town in Telšiai County, Lithuania Lithuania (; lt, Lietuva ), officially the Republic of Lithuania ( lt, Lietuvos Respublika, links=no ), is a country in the Baltic region of Europe. The Lithuanian Institute of History ( lt, Lietuvos istorijos institutas) is a state-funded research institution in Lithuania. Governed by national law, it is the country's main institution of history research, concentrating mostly on the history of Lithuania and its neighbouring states. The institute employs 126 people; 64 of them have Ph.D. degrees and 4 are habilitated doctors. Its director is Rimantas Miknys. Bona Sforza
Bona Sforza d'Aragona (2 February 1494 – 19 November 1557) was Queen of Poland and Grand Duchess of Lithuania as the second wife of Sigismund I the Old, and Duchess of Bari and Rossano by her own right. She was a surviving member of the powerful House of Sforza, which had ruled the Duchy of Milan since 1447. Smart, energetic and ambitious, Bona became heavily involved in the political and cultural life of Poland–Lithuania. To increase state revenue during the Chicken Rebellion, she implemented various economic and agricultural reforms, including the far-reaching Wallach Reform in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In foreign policy, she was allied with the Ottoman Empire and sometimes opposed the Habsburgs. Piotr Kiszka
Piotr Kiszka (died in 1534) was a noble of the House of Kiszka from the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. According to the military census of 1528, he was the 10th wealthiest magnate in the Grand Duchy. In case of war he had to provide 224 fully equipped cavalrymen to the army. That meant that he had more than 23,000 peasants in his dominions. He was the only son of Stanisław Kiszka who was active in Volhynia. From his father he inherited the title of starosta of Drohiczyn. Piotr was Voivode of Polotsk from 1521 to 1532. Viduklė ( bat-smg, Vėdoklė) is a small town in a Raseiniai district municipality, Kaunas County, central-western Lithuania. In 2011, it had a population of 1,678. History 221 Jews lived in the town according to the 1923 census. The German army entered the town on June 23, 1941 and set up a ghetto to imprison the Jewish population. Starting on July 24, 1941, hundred of Jews living in the city were shot by Germans and Lithuanians collaborators.
