Mayors And Independents
The Mayors and Independents ( cs, Starostové a nezávislí), abbreviated to STAN, is a liberal political party in the Czech Republic that is focused on localism and subsidiarity. The party grew out of four minor parties, including Independent Mayors for the Region, which allied itself with the liberal-conservative SNK European Democrats, and cooperated with the similarly liberal-conservative TOP 09 until 2016. It holds 33 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, and is the third strongest party by number of seats following the 2021 election. In the 2013 election to the Chamber of Deputies, STAN won five seats on the TOP 09 list: Jan Farský, Stanislav Polčák, Věra Kovářová, František Vácha and acting leader Petr Gazdík. In many countries, a mayor is the highest-ranking official in a municipal government such as that of a city or a town. Radio Prague International ( cs, Český rozhlas 7 – Radio Praha) is the official international broadcasting station of the Czech Republic. Broadcasting first began on August 31, 1936 near the spa town of Poděbrady. Radio Prague broadcasts in six languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Czech and Russian. It broadcasts programmes about the Czech Republic on satellite and on the Internet. In 2021, Rospotrebnadzor blocked the website of Radio Prague International in Russia due to a report about Jan Palach from 2001. 2019 European Parliament Election In The Czech Republic
The 2019 European Parliament election in the Czech Republic was held on 24 and 25 May 2019, electing the 21 members of the Czech delegation to the European Parliament as part of the European elections held across the European Union. The result was a victory of the populist ruling party ANO ( ALDE), with 21.18 per cent and 6 seats, 2 more seats than in 2014 election. Followed by conservative ODS ( ECR), with 14.54 per cent and 4 seats, marking a notable growth in the election. The Pirate Party also made major gains. SPD ( ENF) gained seats in its first European election, while KDU-ČSL (EPP), TOP 09/STAN (EPP) and KSČM ( GUE/NGL) lost seats.
