Stanislav Galiev
Stanislav Galiev (born 17 January 1992) is a Russian professional ice hockey right winger for Ak Bars Kazan of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). He previously played for the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career As a youth, Galiev played in the 2005 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a team from Moscow. He played junior ice hockey with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the 3rd round (86th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Galiev made his NHL debut for the Capitals in the 2014–15 season, on April 8, 2015 against the Boston Bruins and scored his first NHL goal on April 11, 2015 against the New York Rangers in the last game of the regular season. Winger (ice Hockey)
Winger, in the game of ice hockey, is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is along the outer playing areas. They typically flank the centre forward. Originally the name was given to forward players who went up and down the sides of the rink. Wingers generally have the least defensive responsibilities out of any position on the ice, however they are still tasked with defensive duties such as forechecking duties or covering the point in the defensive zone. Nowadays, there are different types of wingers in the game — out-and-out goal scorers, checkers who disrupt the opponents, and forwards who work along the boards and in the corners. Jordan Weal (born April 15, 1992) is a Canadians, Canadian professional ice hockey player. He is currently playing under contract with HC Dynamo Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Weal was originally selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the third round (70th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career As a youth, Weal played in the 2004 and 2005 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with a minor ice hockey team from North Vancouver (city), North Vancouver. Weal played four years (2007–08 WHL season, 2008–2011–12 WHL season, 2012) of major junior hockey with the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League (WHL), scoring 135 goals and 250 assists for 385 points while earning 186 penalty minutes in 282 games played. In ice hockey, point has three contemporary meanings. Personal stat A point is awarded to a player for each goal scored or assist earned. The total number of goals plus assists equals total points. The Art Ross Trophy is awarded to the National Hockey League (NHL) player who leads the league in scoring points at the end of the regular season. Team stat Points are also awarded to assess standings (or rankings). Historically, teams were awarded two points for each win, one point for each tie and no points for a loss. Assist (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, an assist is attributed to up to two players of the scoring team who shot, passed or deflected the puck towards the scoring teammate, or touched it in any other way which enabled the goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the goal. There can be a maximum of two assists per goal. The assists will be awarded in the order of play, with the last player to pass the puck to the goal scorer getting the primary assist and the player who passed it to the primary assister getting the secondary assist. Players who gain an assist will get one point added to their player statistics. Despite the use of the terms "primary assist" and "secondary assist", neither is worth more than the other, and neither is worth more or less than a goal. In ice hockey, a goal is scored when the puck entirely crosses the goal line between the two goal posts and below the goal crossbar. A goal awards one point to the team attacking the goal scored upon, regardless of which team the player who actually deflected the puck into the goal belongs to (see also own goal). Typically, a player on the team attempting to score shoots the puck with their stick towards the goal net opening, and a player on the opposing team called a goaltender tries to block the shot to prevent a goal from being scored against their team. International Ice Hockey Federation
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). Decisions of the IIHF can be appealed through the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IIHF maintains its own hall of fame for international ice hockey. Russian Olympic Committee Athletes At The 2022 Winter Olympics
Russian athletes competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, from 4 to 20 February 2022. On 9 December 2019, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) banned Russia from all international sport for four years, after it was found that data provided by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency had been manipulated by Russian authorities with a goal of protecting athletes involved in its state-sponsored doping scheme. As at the 2018 Winter Olympics, WADA has allowed individual cleared Russian athletes to compete neutrally under the title of "Russian Olympic Committee". Russia later filed an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the WADA decision. The Court of Arbitration for Sport, on review of Russia's appeal of its case from WADA, ruled on 17 December 2020 to reduce the penalty that WADA had placed. Russia Men's National Junior Ice Hockey Team
The Russian men's national under 20 ice hockey team is the national under-20 ice hockey team in Russia. The team represented Russia at the International Ice Hockey Federation's World Junior Hockey Championship, held annually every December and January. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the International Ice Hockey Federation suspended Russia from all levels of competition. 2009 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament
The 2009 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament was an under-18 ice hockey tournament held in Břeclav, Czech Republic and Piešťany, Slovakia from August 11–15, 2009. The two venues were Alcaplast Arena in Břeclav and Patrícia Ice Arena 37 in Piešťany. Canada captured their fifth championship in six years and fourteenth gold medal of the tournament overall, defeating Russia 9–2 in the gold medal game. Sweden defeated the United States by an identical 9–2 score to earn the bronze medal. The tournament marked the second straight year that Canada, Russia and Sweden medalled in that order.
