Stamford University Bangladesh ( bn, স্টামফোর্ড ইউনিভার্সিটি বাংলাদেশ) is a private university in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established in 2002 under the Private University Act. Before starting as a university, its predecessor institution was known as a Stamford College Group established in 1994, later it was upgraded as private university of Bangladesh in 2002 and appeared as Stamford University Bangladesh. Stamford University is the first ISO certified university in Bangladesh. Stamford University Bangladesh is fully approved by UGC. Stamford International University Thailand (STIU) ( th, มหาวิทยาลัยนานาชาติแสตมฟอร์ด) is a private for-profit international university with an enrollment of over 4,000 students. Historical background Stamford College was established in Singapore and Malaysia in 1950. Subsequently a campus under the name of Stamford International College was opened in Thailand in 1995 as a joint venture with Far East Stamford International Co. Ltd. While the institution was started with an English-based international curriculum, parallel courses in Thai language were introduced along the way. Credits can be transferred worldwide to (and from) colleges and universities at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Stamford Campus
The University of Connecticut (UConn) is a public land-grant research university in Storrs, Connecticut, a village in the town of Mansfield. The primary 4,400-acre (17.8 km2) campus is in Storrs, approximately a half hour's drive from Hartford and 90 minutes from Boston. UConn was founded in 1881 as the Storrs Agricultural School, named after two brothers who donated the land for the school. In 1893, the school became a public land grant college, becoming the University of Connecticut in 1939. Over the following decade, social work, nursing and graduate programs were established, while the schools of law and pharmacy were also absorbed into the university. During the 1960s, UConn Health was established for new medical and dental schools. John Dempsey Hospital opened in Farmington in 1975.
