Stakhanovite Movement
The term Stakhanovite () originated in the Soviet Union and referred to workers who modeled themselves after Alexey Stakhanov. These workers took pride in their ability to produce more than was required, by working harder and more efficiently, thus strengthening the socialist state. The Stakhanovite Movement was encouraged due to the idea of socialist emulation. It began in the coal industry but later spread to many other industries in the Soviet Union. The movement eventually encountered resistance as the increased productivity led to increased demands on workers. History The Stakhanovite movement began during the Soviet second 5-year plan in 1935 as a new stage of socialist competition, emerging as a continuation of the rapid industrialization and forced collectivization that had transpired seven years prior. The movement took its name from Aleksei Grigorievich Stakhanov, who reportedly mined 102 tons of coal in less than 6 hours (14 times his quota) on 31 August 1935. However ...

Stakhanov, Ukraine
Stakhanov (), or Kadiivka () is a city in the Luhansk Oblast (region) of eastern Ukraine occupied by Russia. The city is incorporated as a city of oblast significance. Its population is approximately . Name Before 1937 the city was known as Kadiivka. From 1937 to 1940 the city was named Sergo ( uk, Серго, translit=Serho) in honor of Sergo Ordzhonikidze, and then from 1940 to 1978 the city was again known as Kadiivka. On 15 February 1978 the city was named after the Soviet miner Alexey Stakhanov, who started his career there. Since 2014 the city has been occupied by Russian-backed militia troops as a part of self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR). Although Ukraine does not control the territory of LPR, it is internationally recognized as a part of Ukraine by most member states of the United Nations except Russia. Public Joint-Stock Company Stakhanov Railway Car Building Works — industrial enterprise of Ukraine, located in the city of Stakhanov, Luhansk Oblast, Stakhanov, Luhansk Oblast, producing freight cars. History The factory was founded as a weldments plant in 1962. On 29 June 1965 the first phase of the plant was put into operation with carrying capacity of 10 tons per year of steel constructions for tower cranes, draglines, elevator crane jibs and other equipment. Since 1967, the plant has specialized in metal cages large capacity boilers for the construction of thermal and hydroelectric power. In December 1969, the plant was reconstructed for the production of mainline freight cars. Stakhanov Coal Mine
The Kapitalna coal mine (before 2017 - Stakhanov coal mine) is a large coal mine in the south-east of Ukraine in Donetsk Oblast. Kapitalna is one of the largest coal reserves in Ukraine, having estimated reserves of 139.7 million tonnes. The annual coal production is around 1.85 million tonnes. The mine was built according to the project of Dondiproshakht (chief engineer of the project - A.V. Cherenkov), which was completed in 1964 and approved by the Supreme Council of National Economy of the USSR Council of Ministers of the USSR by Order No. 114-R of August 2, 1965. A roof collapse in the Stakhanov mine on August 18, 2011, killed two miners.
