Stairs Mhlongo
Sthembiso Santo 'Stairs' Mhlongo (born 13 May 1987) is a South African rugby union player who last played for the . His regular position is lock. Career Youth and Varsity rugby Mhlongo was part of the Academy, but failed to represent them at any level. Instead, he moved to Pretoria in 2011, where he was part of the side that participated in and reached the final of the 2011 Varsity Cup competition. His participation was limited however, making just three substitute appearances. He once again played for them in the 2012 Varsity Cup tournament, which saw win the title for the first time. Mhlongo also saw more game time in 2012, appearing in every single match from the second round onwards. He scored one try (in their final regular season match against the ) and also played the final twenty minutes of the final, where the Pretoria side triumphed 29–21 against a side that previously won the first three editions of the competition. Edendale, South Africa
Edendale is a township in Msunduzi local municipality in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. Edendale was established in 1851, when 100 black Christian families settled on the farm Welverdiend, about 10 km from Pietermaritzburg, and renamed it to its present name. The village was laid out under the guidance of James Allison, who had broken with the Wesleyan Missionary Society in 1851. Unlike most black urban areas, Edendale was developed under private land ownership from the beginning, a concept that was new to Africans in Natal. This Christian community abandoned traditional beliefs and practices, moving away from polygamy and introducing men to cultivation, previously the realm of women. Edendale retained its primarily Christian character into the 1920s, but by the 1940s people from rural areas began to pour in, leading to overcrowding and unsanitary conditions. 2014 Vodacom Cup
The 2014 Vodacom Cup was played between 7 March and 16 May 2014 and was the 17th edition of this annual domestic cup competition. This edition of the Vodacom Cup was played between fourteen provincial rugby union teams in South Africa from the Currie Cup Premier and First Divisions, as well as the and from Kenya. Competition There were sixteen teams participating in the 2014 Vodacom Cup competition. These teams were geographically divided into two sections, with eight teams in each section. Teams played all the teams in their section once over the course of the season, either at home or away. Teams received four log points for a win and two points for a draw. Bonus log points were awarded to teams that scored four or more tries in a game, as well as to teams that lost a match by seven points or less. 2015 Currie Cup Qualification
The 2015 Currie Cup qualification tournament was a competition organised by the South African Rugby Union which featured seven teams and was played between 12 June and 25 July 2015. The winner of the tournament would qualify for the 2015 Currie Cup Premier Division, while the remaining six teams would play in the 2015 Currie Cup First Division. For the second season in succession, Griquas won the tournament to earn a place in the Premier Division. The 2015 Currie Cup First Division was contested from 29 August to 8 October 2015. The tournament (also known as the Absa Currie Cup First Division for sponsorship reasons) was the second tier of South Africa's premier domestic rugby union competition, featuring teams representing either entire provinces or substantial regions within provinces. The tournament was won by the for the first time after they beat the 44–20 in the final played on 8 October 2015.
