For its polygonal structure, which emphazies the medieval skyline as well as the neo-classical forts of Ingolstadt (like the fortification Reduit Tilly), it received the BDA-award (a Bavarian award for architecture) 1967. Ingolstadt (, Austro-Bavarian: ) is an independent city on the Danube in Upper Bavaria with 139,553 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2022). Around half a million people live in the metropolitan area.
