Stadsbygd
Stadsbygd is a village in Indre Fosen municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located at the southern end of the Fosen peninsula in a wide, flat valley, just east of the village of Askjem, along the north side of the Trondheimsfjord. The village of Rørvika lies about to the east, and that is where the Flakk–Rørvik Ferry links the area with the city of Trondheim to the southeast. The municipal centre of Årnset lies about to the northwest. The village was the administrative centre of the old municipality of Stadsbygd that existed until 1964. The main church for the village and surrounding area is Stadsbygd Church, located just south of the village of Stadsbygd. Stadsbygd (municipality)
Stadsbygd is a former municipality in the old Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. The municipality existed on the southern part of the Fosen peninsula, along the Trondheimsfjorden in what is now the municipality of Indre Fosen in Trøndelag county. The administrative centre was the village of Stadsbygd, just north of the Stadsbygd Church. History The municipality of Stadsbygd was established on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). In 1860, the northwestern district of Stadsbygd (population: 3,733) was separated to form a municipality the new municipality of Rissa. The split left Stadsbygd with a population of 1,828. During the 1960s, there were many municipal mergers across Norway due to the work of the Schei Committee. Rissa is a former municipality in the old Sør-Trøndelag county in Norway in the Fosen region. The municipality existed from 1860 until its dissolution on 1 January 2018 when it became part of the municipality of Indre Fosen in Trøndelag county. Nils Waltersen Aasen
Nils Waltersen Aasen (30 March 1878 – 27 December 1925) was a Norwegian arms inventor. He has been credited with having developed the modern hand grenade and land mine just prior to World War I. Biography Aasen was born at Stadsbygd in Rissa, Norway. He graduated in 1903 from the Fortress-Artillery School for Non-Commissioned Officers () at Oscarsborg Fortress. He started his experiments developing a hand grenade while serving as a sergeant at Oscarsborg. He was encouraged in his work by base commander and former defense minister Hans Georg Stang. However, the Norwegian Department of Defense showed little interest in Aasen's prototype. He then formed Aasen's Grenade Company (''Det Aasenske Granatkompani'') in Copenhagen, Denmark, which produced and exported of his grenade throughout Europe. Oddmund Raudberget
Oddmund Raudberget (born July 12, 1932) is a Norwegian artist, painter, and sculptor. Raudberget was born in Stadsbygd and as an adult has lived in Oslo, Asker, and Drammen. From 1951 to 1954, Raudberget attended the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art. From 1953 to 1954 he also studied stone cutting at Nidaros Cathedral. From 1954 to 1957, Raudberget studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts under Per Palle Storm, where he also took fresco classes from 1957 to 1958, and he attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1959. Raudberget's works are displayed at the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design and other institutions, and are also included in many public and private collections. Raudberget debuted as a sculptor in 1955 with his work ''Guttehode'' (Boy's Head) in fired clay. Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag.
