Stroitel Stadium (Russian: Стадион «Строитель») is a bandy arena in Dimitrovgrad, Russia. It is the home arena of bandy club Cheremshan. Two games at the 2016 Bandy World Championship Bandy World Championship 2016, the XXXVI Bandy World Championship, was held with Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia, as host region. Dimitrovgrad, Russia
Dimitrovgrad (russian: Димитровград; ), formerly Melekess () until 1972, is a city in Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia. It is the administrative center of Melekessky District, although it is not within the district and is an independent city. The city is located in the Volga Region, at the confluence of the Melekesska River and the Bolshoy Cheremshan River, a tributary of the Volga River. Dimitrovgrad has a population of the second-largest city in Ulyanovsk Oblast, after Ulyanovsk. History The city was founded in 1714 as a village for workers of the local distillery. By 1897 its population had grown to 8,500, and in 1919 it was granted town status. Until 1972, the city's name was Melekess (), after the local Melekesska River which runs through the town. 2016 Bandy World Championship
Bandy World Championship 2016, the XXXVI Bandy World Championship, was held with Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia, as host region. Most of the games was played at the Volga-Sport-Arena in Ulyanovsk. Because of its higher spectator capacity, the group stage matches between Russia and Sweden and between Russia and Kazakhstan were played at Trud Stadium, which also hosted one semi-final and the final. Some games were played in nearby Dimitrovgrad at Stadium Stroitel. The Division A tournament was played from 1 February until 7 February 2016, while the Division B tournament took place afterwards, on 10–14 February. Czech Republic made its debut, while Canada and Ukraine were set to return, thus reaching an all-time high of nineteen participating teams. Sergey Ivanovich Morozov
Sergey Ivanovich Morozov (russian: Сергей Иванович Морозов; born 6 September 1959, Ulyanovsk) is a Russian politician who is currently a member of parliament of the State Duma. He had served as the 3rd governor of Ulyanovsk Oblast in Russia from 6 January 2005 until 8 April 2021. He was elected in 2004; his term started in 2005. After completing military service in the Soviet Pacific Fleet in 1980 he graduated from the All Union Juristic Institute in 1981. Between 1981 and 2000 he worked for the Ministry of the Interior in the Ulyanovsk Oblast later becoming head of the local Drug Enforcement Department. Morozov was elected mayor of Dimitrovgrad in 2000 and then governor of Ulyanovsk in 2004. He is married and has two sons and a daughter. Morozov took a special interest in promoting the cultural events surrounding the 2016 Bandy World Championship, which took place in Ulyanovsk. Bandy is a winter sport and ball sport played by two teams wearing ice skates on a large ice surface (either indoors or outdoors) while using sticks to direct a ball into the opposing team's goal. The international governing body for bandy is the Federation of International Bandy (FIB).
