Stadionul Jiul
Stadionul Petre Libardi is a multi-purpose stadium in Petroșani, Romania. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches and is the home ground of CSM Jiul Petroșani, Jiul Petroșani. The stadium holds 15,500 people and was built in 1982. In 2019 the stadium was renamed "Petre Libardi", in honor of CSM Jiul Petroșani, Jiul Petroșani's captain from the successful 1973–74 Cupa României, 1973–1974 Cupa României final. Petroșani
Petroșani (; Hungarian: ''Petrozsény''; German: ''Petroschen'') is a city in Hunedoara County, Transylvania, Romania, with a population of 34,331 (2011). The city has been associated with mining since the 19th century. History "Pietros" means "stony, rocky" in Romanian. The city of Petroșani was founded in the 17th century (around 1640) with the name Petrozsény. In 1720, an Austrian cartographer mentions that the entire Jiu Valley was intensely populated and settlements could be seen from one end to the other. During the 1818 census, Petrozsény had 233 inhabitants, while the entire Valley counted 2,550. During this time, the main activity of the people was shepherding and no urban settlement had appeared yet. Clubul Sportiv Municipal Jiul Petroșani, commonly known as Jiul Petroșani, simply as Jiul, is a professional football club based in Petroșani, Hunedoara County, founded in 1919 under the name of ''CAM Petroșani''. Jiul Petroșani is one of the oldest clubs in Romania that is still active. Petre Libardi
Petre Libardi (27 August 1942 – 14 August 2005) was a Romanian footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Club career Petre Libardi was born on 27 August 1942 in Câmpulung-Muscel and started playing football at Minerul Câmpulung. He went for a short period at Dinamo Pitești, but returned at Minerul Câmpulung and in 1963 he went to play at Jiul Petroșani where on 21 August 1966 he made Divizia A debut in a 7–0 victory against Steagul Roșu Brașov. He was Jiul's captain ten years from 1965 until 1975, a period in which he appeared in 238 Divizia A games in which he scored 38 goals, played two Cupa României finals, winning one and made two appearances in the double against Dundee United in the 1974–75 European Cup Winners' Cup which was lost with 3–2 on aggregate. 1973–74 Cupa României
The 1973–74 Cupa României was the 36th edition of Romania's most prestigious football cup competition. The title was won by Jiul Petroşani against Politehnica Timişoara. Format The competition is an annual knockout tournament. Each tie is played as a single leg on neutral ground. If a match is drawn after 90 minutes, the game goes in extra time, and if the scored is still tight after 120 minutes, then the winner will be established at penalty kicks.
