Stadio Rigamonti-Ceppi is a multi-use stadium in Lecco, Italy. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Calcio Lecco 1912. The stadium holds 4,997 people. Lecco
Lecco (, , ; lmo, label=Lecchese, Lècch ) is a city of 48,131 inhabitants in Lombardy, northern Italy, north of Milan. It lies at the end of the south-eastern branch of Lake Como (the branch is named ''Branch of Lecco'' / ''Ramo di Lecco''). The Bergamo Alps rise to the north and east, cut through by the Valsassina of which Lecco marks the southern end. The lake narrows to form the river Adda, so bridges were built to improve road communications with Como and Milan. Calcio Lecco 1912, better known as Lecco , is a football club in Lecco, Lombardy, Italy. Mario Rigamonti
Mario Rigamonti (; 17 December 1922 – 4 May 1949) was an Italian football player, who played as a central defender for Torino F.C. and the Italy national football team. He died in the Superga air disaster together with the whole ''Grande Torino'' team. Biography Rigamonti was born in Brescia. Following his death in 1949, the Stadio Mario Rigamonti in Brescia, used by local club Brescia Calcio, was opened in 1959, and was dedicated to him in his honour. Club career Rigamonti played as a defender, more exactly as center-back in WM formation, beginning his career in the youth system of his hometown club Brescia Calcio, later making his professional debut for the club in 1944. He was acquired by Torino F.C. in the summer 1941, aged 19, but played for the club's first team only after World War II. Superga Air Disaster
The Superga air disaster occurred on 4 May 1949, when a Fiat G.212 of Avio Linee Italiane (Italian Airlines), carrying the entire Torino football team (popularly known as the ''Grande Torino''), crashed into the retaining wall at the back of the Basilica of Superga, which stands on a hill on the outskirts of Turin. All thirty-one people on the flight died. Background The Avio Linee Italiane Fiat G.212CP was carrying the team home from Lisbon, where they had played a friendly match with S.L. Benfica in honour of the Portuguese captain, Francisco Ferreira. In the incident, the whole active Torino team (almost all of the Italy national football team) lost their lives.
