Stadio Partenio
The Stadio Partenio-Lombardi is a multi-purpose stadium in Avellino, Italy. It is currently used mostly for association football, football matches and is the home of U.S. Avellino 1912. The stadium was built in 1973 and holds 26,308. On 9 June 2011 the stadium was dedicated to former Avellino player Adriano Lombardi. While any stadium could potentially host more than one type of sport or event, this concept usually refers to a specific design philosophy that stresses multifunctionality over specificity. Adriano Lombardi
Adriano Lombardi (7 August 1945 – 30 November 2007), nicknamed ''il rosso di Ponsacco'', was an Italian football player and a football coach, mostly known for his time spent at Avellino. Career He played as a midfielder with many teams, in particular Perugia, Como and Avellino. In November 2007, at the age of 62, he died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, in Mercogliano. In his honour, the number 10 Avellino jersey, worn by Lombardi during his time for the "''lupi''", has been retired. On 9 June 2011 Stadio Partenio has been dedicated to Lombardi. 1990 UEFA Cup Final
The 1990 UEFA Cup Final was an association football tie played on 2 May 1990 and 16 May 1990 between Juventus and Fiorentina of Italy. Juventus won 3–1 on aggregate. This was the first final between two Italian sides in the UEFA competitions' history and the third between two clubs of the same country. The first game was the last official football game played at the Stadio Comunale until 2006, when Stadio delle Alpi was closed. The second game was played in Avellino because Fiorentina's substitute stadium in Perugia was closed after the incidents in the semifinal game against SV Werder Bremen. The Italy national under-21 football team is the national under-21 football team of Italy and is controlled by the Italian Football Federation. The team competes in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, held every two years.
