The Stade municipal de Nouadhibou (), or Municipal Stadium in english, is a multi-purpose stadium in Nouadhibou, Mauritania. It is used mostly for football matches. The capacity has been 10,300 since the most recent renovation. The stadium is used by the FC Nouadhibou. History The stadium has been renovated in 2020 in order to prepare the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations hosted by Mauritania. its capacity goes from 1.000 to 10.300 people. Nouadhibou
Nouadhibou (; ar, نواذيبو, Nwādībū, Berber: Nwadibu, formerly in French: ) is the second largest city in Mauritania and serves as a major commercial centre. The city itself has about 118,000 inhabitants expanding to over 140,000 in the larger metropolitan area. It is situated on a 65-kilometre peninsula or headland called Ras Nouadhibou (Berber: ''Ighef Nwadibu''), , or , of which the western side has the Western Saharan city of La Güera. Artificial turf is a surface of synthetic fibers made to look like natural grass. It is most often used in arenas for sports that were originally or are normally played on grass. However, it is now being used on residential lawns and commercial applications as well. FC Nouadhibou is a Mauritanian professional football club based in the commercial centre of Nouadhibou, that competes in the Ligue 1 Mauritania, the top flight of Mauritanian football. History The club was founded in 1999 by a group young people led by Ahmed Yahya Ould Abderrahmane who became the club's first president. He is the current president of the FMF (Federation mauritanienne de Football). Before the creation of the club, there was another club that existed in the late 20th century under the name Imraguens de Nouadhibou. 2021 Africa U-20 Cup Of Nations
The 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations was the 16th edition of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations (23rd edition if tournaments without hosts are included), the biennial international youth football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for players aged 20 and below. In September 2018, it was decided that the tournament would be hosted by Mauritania. This will be the first edition in Africa U-20 Cup of Nations to have expanded to 12 teams instead of eight. The top four teams of the tournament would have normally qualified for the 2021 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia as the CAF representatives.
