St Teilo's Church in Wales High School ( cy, Ysgol Uwchradd Teilo Sant yr Eglwys yng Nghymru) is a co-educational secondary school now located in Llanedeyrn, Cardiff. History The school was opened in September 1966 on its former Llanedeyrn Road, Cyncoed site as an 11-16 school and provides a church school comprehensive education for secondary students living mainly in the eastern half of Cardiff. It is now one of three Voluntary Aided Secondary Schools in the Diocese of Llandaff and serves a much wider geographical and spiritual 'catchment' area; many students come from the Diocese of Monmouth and as far away as Caerphilly. As a Voluntary Aided school, the Local Education Authority maintains it, but the Church through its Governing Body, has considerable spiritual, financial, administrative, and educational duties towards it. Llanedeyrn
Llanedeyrn ( cy, Llanedern) is a former village, now a district and community, in the east of the city of Cardiff, Wales, located around 3.5 miles from the city centre. The parish of Llanedeyrn rests on the banks of the river Rhymney and is visible nesting on a hill side above the A48(M), westbound on the approach into Cardiff. The name The name used in English "Llanedeyrn" is in fact the perpetuation of an erroneous Welsh form. Llanedeyrn High School () was an 11–16 mixed, community comprehensive school in Llanedeyrn, Cardiff, Wales. It was established in 1970 as the first purpose-built comprehensive school in Wales and closed in 2014. History Because of falling pupil numbers, in 2008 a decision was made to close Llanedeyrn and two other Cardiff comprehensive schools. From September 2011, Llanedeyrn High School did not take in any new pupils at Year 7 and the school finally closed in the summer of 2014. Remaining pupils were transferred to Llanishen High School or Cardiff High School, or could apply to attend St Teilo's Church in Wales High School. Pencoed ( cy, Pen-coed) is a urbanised community and town in the county borough of Bridgend, Wales. It straddles the M4 motorway north east of Bridgend and is situated on the Ewenny River. A48 Road
The A48 is a trunk road in Great Britain running from the A40 at Highnam, west of Gloucester, England, to the A40 at Carmarthen, Wales. Before the Severn Bridge opened on 8 September 1966, it was a major route between England and South Wales. For most of its route, it runs almost parallel to the M4 motorway. During times of high winds at the Severn Bridge, the A48 is used as part of the diversion route and is still marked as a Holiday Route.
