St Josephs Doora-Barefield GAA
St Joseph's, Doora-Barefield is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in the parish of Doora-Barefield outside Ennis, County Clare, Ireland. Hurling was the more popular sport in Barefield over Gaelic football, now it's 50-50 between the both of them. Their main playing fields are in Gurteen. They have three full-size hurling and football pitches. There is also changing and showering facilities there. History Players from the club twice joined up with local rivals Éire Óg, Ennis to form the Ennis Faughs football team. Both clubs were competing at lower levels at the time so it was seen as an opportunity to play senior football. Between 1944-1956 and 1994-1995, the ''Ennis Faughs'' competed in thirteen county football finals, winning five Senior Football titles in 1947, 1948, 1952, 1954 and 1994. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. Ollie Baker
Oliver Baker (born 14 July 1974) is an Irish former Hurling, hurler who played as a midfielder for the Clare GAA, Clare senior hurling team. Baker made his first appearance for the team during the National Hurling League 1994-95, 1994–95 National League and became a regular member of the starting fifteen over the next decade. During that time he won two All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland winners' medals, three Munster Senior Hurling Championship winner's medals and three GAA All Stars Awards, All-Star awards. He ended up as an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. At club level Baker is an All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship, All-Ireland medalist with St Joseph's Doora-Barefield GAA, St Joseph's Doora-Barefield. Seánie McMahon
Seánie McMahon (born 1973) is a former Irish hurler. He played with his local club St Joseph's Doora-Barefield and with the Clare senior inter-county team from 1994 until 2006. He is the highest scoring back in All-Ireland Championship history with 0-97 from 51 games. Playing career Club McMahon retired from playing with his club Doora-Barefield in 2009. He has had some success at underage levels before finally winning a senior county championship title in 1998. This was later converted into a Munster club title and on St. Patrick's Day, 1999 McMahon claimed an All-Ireland club title following a huge win over Rathnure. Later that year he won a second county title as well as a second Munster club title. McMahon won a third Clare SHC medal in 2001. Jamesie O'Connor (born 28 July 1972) is an Irish former hurler who played as a midfielder for the Clare senior hurling team. O'Connor made his first appearance for the team during the 1992–93 National League and became a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 2004 championship. During that time he won two All-Ireland medals, three Munster medals and four All-Star awards. He ended up as an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. The Clare Under-21 Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association club competition between the under-21 Gaelic Football clubs in Clare. The Clare Junior A Football Championship (abbreviated to Clare JAFC) is an annual Gaelic football club competition organised by the Clare County Board of the GAA for clubs below the Intermediate and Senior grades. It is contested by the top-ranking Junior clubs in County Clare, Ireland. It is the third-tier adult competition of the Clare football pyramid. The Pat O'Donnell & Co. Senior Hurling Championship, more commonly known as the'' Clare Senior Hurling Championship ''or'' Clare SHC, ''is an annual hurling competition organised by the Clare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. It is contested by the top-ranking senior hurling clubs in Clare, Ireland. It is the most prestigious competition in Clare hurling. Introduced in 1887 as the Clare Hurling Championship, it was initially a straight knockout tournament open only to senior-ranking club teams. The Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the AIB Munster GAA Hurling Senior Club Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1964 for the champion hurling teams in the province of Munster in Ireland.
