St. Thomas Ice Arena
St. Thomas Ice Arena is a 1,000-seat ice hockey arena in Mendota Heights, Minnesota. Opened in 2003, it is home to the University of St. Thomas Tommies ice hockey programs in addition to the Saint Thomas Academy boys hockey team. History St. Thomas had previously used the State Fair Coliseum for their ice hockey program. After nearly 40 years at the venue, and with the women's program beginning in 2001, the university decided to build their own rink. Due to the school being located in Saint Paul they could not build the rink on campus and instead constructed the arena in the nearby suburb of Mendota Heights. In 2019, the arena served as the site for the National Championship in NCAA Division III women's ice hockey. Saint Thomas Academy
Saint Thomas Academy (abbr. STA), originally known as St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary and formerly known as St. Thomas Military Academy, is the only all-male, Catholic, college-preparatory, military high school in Minnesota. It is located in Mendota Heights near Saint Paul. The Academy has a middle school (grades 6-8) and a high school (grades 9-12). The high school students are required to participate in military leadership classes, as the school was previously part of Army JROTC. Its sister school, Convent of the Visitation, is located across the street. Many classes and after-school activities involve both schools. Lee & Rose Warner Coliseum
The Lee & Rose Warner Coliseum is a 5,000-seat indoor arena in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, United States. Built in 1951 on the grounds of the Minnesota State Fair, the venue hosts indoor events of the fair such as livestock shows, dog shows, equestrian and bull riding. During the fair, vendors selling merchandise such as Western wear fill the concourse. History The original structure on the site, the St. Paul Hippodrome, was built in 1906 and housed an indoor ice rink from 1909 to 1942. The building fell into disrepair after being used as a military aircraft propeller plant during World War II. Lee and Penny Anderson Arena is a proposed indoor arena located in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The facility is planned to be the home arena of the University of St. Thomas basketball and hockey teams. History In 2020, St. Thomas received approval to move its athletics programs directly from NCAA Division III to NCAA Division I as a result of being removed from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
