St. Thomas Aquinas High School (Connecticut)
St. Thomas Aquinas High School was a Roman Catholic senior high school in New Britain, Connecticut. In 1995 the school established a board, Aquinas Foundation, which implemented fundraisers. Circa 1995 the school had 240 students. The enrollment declined further, and as of 1999 the fundraisers had not resulted in a lot of money going to the school. In the summer of 1999 there were fewer than 100 enrolled students for the upcoming school year, including only 11 9th grade (freshmen) students. In July 1999 the school announced it was closing as the enrollment was too low. After the closure, the school building was abandoned. In 2016 land planning company TO Design LLC agreed to buy the building for $80,000. New Britain, Connecticut
New Britain is a city in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. It is located approximately southwest of Hartford. According to 2020 Census, the population of the city is 74,135. Among the southernmost of the communities encompassed within the Hartford-Springfield Knowledge Corridor metropolitan region, New Britain is home to Central Connecticut State University and Charter Oak State College. The ''Hartford Courant'' is the largest daily newspaper in the U.S. state of Connecticut, and is considered to be the oldest continuously published newspaper in the United States. Rod Foster
Roderick Allen Foster (born October 10, 1960) is a retired American professional basketball player (6'1", 160 lb) who played for the Phoenix Suns of the NBA. He was drafted out of UCLA in 1983 in the second round of the NBA Draft (28th pick overall). Career As a senior at St Thomas Aquinas in New Britain, Connecticut, "Rocket" Rod Foster averaged 30.2 points per game, and led his team to the State Championship. He was named an Adidas All-American and second team Parade All-American. A prized recruit, Foster chose to attend UCLA, recruited to the school by coach Larry Brown. Toby Driver
Toby Driver is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter, producer, label owner, and artist, best known for his work as the leader of the experimental bands Kayo Dot and maudlin of the Well. Driver creates the majority of the album artwork associated with these bands, performs the lead vocals and several instruments, produces the albums, and has written and arranged the music for both bands. Although several members of motW continued on when the band dissolved and reformed as Kayo Dot in 2003, Driver is the only remaining member of the original line-up of maudlin of the Well who is still consistently active with Kayo Dot. Adam James Stern (born February 12, 1980) is a Canadians, Canadian former Major League Baseball (MLB) outfielder who played for the Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, and Milwaukee Brewers from 2005 to 2010. Gennaro L. "Jerry" DeGregorio (born February 20, 1962) is an American basketball coach. He was the former head basketball coach of the University of Rhode Island, where he coached the Rams from 1999 to 2001.
