St. Norbert Green Knights
The St. Norbert Green Knights are teams representing St. Norbert College in 23 sports in National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA NCAA Division III, Division III athletics. The Green Knights joined the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) in July 2020 after 38 years in the Midwest Conference (MWC). Prior to joining the NACC full-time, St. Norbert had been a member of that league in men's volleyball in the 2020 season (2019–20 school year), the school's first in that sport. Teams Ice hockey The St. Norbert men's hockey program is coached by Tim Coghlin. Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference
The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC), formerly the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC), is a college athletic conference. It participates in the NCAA's Division III and began its first season in the fall of 2006. The NACC sponsors 21 sports. Men's sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, indoor track & field, outdoor track & field, and volleyball. Women's squads are fielded in basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, indoor track & field, outdoor track & field and volleyball. The newest NACC sports are men's volleyball, added in the 2017–18 school year, and men's and women's lacrosse, added in the 2020-21 school year. NCAA Division III
NCAA Division III (D-III) is a division of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States. D-III consists of athletic programs at colleges and universities that choose not to offer athletic scholarships to their student-athletes. The NCAA's first split was into two divisions, the University and College Divisions, in 1956, the College Division was formed for smaller schools that did not have the resources of the major athletic programs across the country. The College Division split again in 1973 when the NCAA went to its current naming convention: Division I, Division II, and Division III. Division III schools are not allowed to offer athletic scholarships, while D-II schools can. Division III is the NCAA's largest division with around 450 member institutions, which are 80% private and 20% public. NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Tournament
The NCAA Division III men's ice hockey tournament is an annual tournament to determine the top men's ice hockey team in NCAA Division III. The Division III championship was contested from 1984 through 2019, but then suspended due to COVID-19. The tournament resumed in the spring of 2022. The most successful team has been the Middlebury Panthers with eight titles. Champions Note: from 1988 through 1990 the championship round was a 2-game series where the first team to three points won (2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie). If the two teams remained tied after 2 games a 20-minute mini-game was held to determine the winner.
