St. Mary's College, Kegalle
St. Mary's College is a multi-faith school located in Kegalle, Sabaragamuwa Province, Sri Lanka. Established in 1867, it is the oldest boys' school in the city. In 2023 it had approximately 3,000 students and 135 teaching staff. History St. Mary's College was established on 1 March 1867, the fifth Catholic school in the country established by the Benedictine Missionaries. The school was founded as a vernacular English school in 1867 by Rev. Fr. Domenico Pingulani, a Benedictine missionary, in connection with St. Mary's Church. It initially had 22 students and one teacher. The Jesuit Missionaries took over the running of the school in 1893. In 1902 Lucian van Langenberg was appointed the school's principal. In 1921 Rev. Fr. Berneart took over the administration of the school and by 1922 it had 110 students enrolled. In 1933 Rev. Fr. P. M. Baguet was appointed as principal. Kegalle
Kegalle ( si, කෑගල්ල; ta, கேகாலை) is a large town in Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. It is located on the Colombo–Kandy road, approximately from Colombo and from Kandy. It is the main town in the Kegalle District, which is one of two districts which comprise Sabaragamuwa Province. The town is governed by an Urban Council. Kegalle has an agricultural based economy and mainly produces rubber. The surrounding area produces graphite, precious stones and agricultural products such as rice. It is the nearest town to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, a major tourist attraction in the area, which is to the north-east. The Commander of the Navy is the professional head of the Sri Lanka Navy. The current Commander of the Navy is Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera. It is a position equivalent to that of First Sea Lord of the Royal Navy or Chief of Naval Operations in the United States Navy. Kala Bhushana Bandusena Samarasinghe, popularly known as Bandu (බන්දු සමරසිංහ: born 22 November 1952), is an actor in Sri Lankan cinema, theater and television. One of the most popular comedians in Sinhala cinema, Bandu is best known for comedy roles in several blockbuster film franchises such as ''Re Daniel Dawal Migel'', ''Cheriyo'', ''Jolly Halo'' as well as ''Somy Boys''. In addition to acting, he also worked as a director, scriptwriter, singer, lyricist and producer.
