St. Joseph Wind Farm
St. Joseph Wind Farm (french: Parc éolien de Saint-Joseph) is a wind energy power plant in southern Manitoba, Canada. It has 60 turbines with a total rating of 138 megawatts. First proposed in 2007, the turbines started operation in early 2011. The investment in the plant was C$355 million by the San Francisco-based Pattern Energy Group, with a part loan from Manitoba Hydro. The project had been initially planned at 300 MW capacity but was downsized due to economic conditions in 2008. The power plant uses 60 Siemens Wind Power 2.3 megawatt turbines, model SW2.3-101; these were the first turbines sold by Siemens in Canada. The plant covers about 125 square kilometres west of Highway 75, around the community of St. Joseph, Manitoba. Energy is sold to Manitoba Hydro through a 27-year purchase agreement. Rural Municipality Of Montcalm
Montcalm (french: Municipalité rurale de Montcalm) is a rural municipality (RM) in the province of Manitoba in Western Canada. The Canada 2016 Census reported a population of 1,260 persons, a decrease from the 1,309 reported in the 2011 Census. Geography The RM has an area of 469.41 km2 (181.24 sq mi). The Canada–United States border opposite Pembina County, North Dakota forms a small part of Montcalm's southern boundary; there is no direct road link between the RM and county. The Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation is situated between Montcalm and the neighbouring Municipality of Emerson – Franklin. Montcalm also borders the municipalities of Rhineland, De Salaberry, and Morris, as well as the eastern edge of the Town of Morris. Rural Municipality Of Rhineland
The Rural Municipality of Rhineland is a former rural municipality (RM) in the Canadian province of Manitoba. Since 1876, the area made up part of the Mennonite West Reserve. The R.M. of Rhineland was originally incorporated as a rural municipality on February 14, 1880 and later absorbed the neighbouring RM of Douglas in January 1891. It ceased on January 1, 2015 as a result of its provincially mandated amalgamation with the towns of Gretna and Plum Coulee to form the Municipality of Rhineland. The RM was located in the southern part of the province, along its border with the state of North Dakota in the United States. It had a population of 4,125 persons in the 2006 census, a slight decrease from the 4,183 reported in the 2001 Census. Altona is a town in southern Manitoba, Canada, about 100 km south-west of Winnipeg and 158 km north of Grand Forks, North Dakota. The population at the 2011 Census was 4,123 residents. Old Altona was founded in 1880 by Plautdietsch-speaking Mennonites from the Russian Empire. It is surrounded by the Municipality of Rhineland. Dominion City is an unincorporated community in the Municipality of Emerson – Franklin, Manitoba Canada. It is located in southeastern part of the province, approximately north of the Canada–United States border. Dominion City is served by Roseau Valley School. The community also has a pool, a museum, a bank, a credit union, a general store, a hockey rink, a curling club, and a nine-hole golf course. Historic buildings in Dominion City include All Saints Anglican Church, which is now used as the Franklin Museum. The original name of the community was Roseau, later Roseau Crossing.
