St. George's Bay - informally referred to as Bay St. George due to its French translation Baie St-George - is a large bay in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It is located on the west coast of the island of Newfoundland and comprises a sub-basin of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The bay measures approximately wide at its mouth, between Cape Anguille in the south, and Cape St. George in the north. Its northern shore measures approximately in length from the head of the bay at Stephenville Crossing to Cape St. George, located at the western tip of the Port au Port Peninsula. The southern shore measures approximately from Stephenville Crossing to Cape Anguille. Barachois Brook is a local service district and designated place in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is on the western coast of the province, on Bay St. George, located just 5 km south of Stephenville Crossing. "Black Bank", a popular beach, is located in Barachois Brook. Stephenville (Canada 2021 Census population 6540) is a town in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, on the west coast of the island of Newfoundland. Kippens (Canada 2021 Census population 1,842) is a town located in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada on the west coast of the island of Newfoundland. The town of Kippens is situated on the West Coast of the province of Newfoundland. The town was granted its municipality status on December 31, 1968. Port au Port is a small Canadian rural community located in the western part of the island of Newfoundland. Aguathuna
Port au Port West-Aguathuna-Felix Cove is a small town located on the Port au Port Peninsula of the Island of Newfoundland, Canada. The nearest large service area is Stephenville. The town was created in 1970 by amalgamating the small villages of Port au Port West, Aguathuna and Felix Cove. Its post office began on September 11, 1964. The first Post Mistress was Reisa Gabriel. Aguathuna The area grew from workers at the nearby limestone mine site at Jack of Clubs Cove. The Dominion Iron and Steel Company opened a quarry there in 1911. The quarry's manager, Arthur House, wanted to rename the cove from Jack of Clubs Cove as it would never have been treated with serious respect. The then Archbishop M.F. Howley suggested ''Aguathuna'' believing it to be a Beothuk word for ''white stone''.
