St. Boniface Mohawks
The St. Boniface Mohawks were a Canadian senior ice hockey team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The team was founded in 1967 when the Winnipeg Maroons (ice hockey), Winnipeg Maroons, former Allan Cup champions, relocated to St. Boniface, Winnipeg, St. Boniface. The Mohawks played in various leagues, including the Manitoba Senior Hockey League and the Central Amateur Senior Hockey League, until the early 1990s. During their existence, the Mohawks won a total of 14 Pattison Cups as provincial champions. Between 1968 and 1983, they won four Patton Cups as Western Canadian champions, but were never able to defeat their Eastern counterpart in the best-of-seven series for the Allan Cup. Senior Ice Hockey
Senior hockey refers to amateur or semi-professional ice hockey competition. There are no age restrictions for Senior players, who typically consist of those whose Junior eligibility has expired. Senior hockey leagues operate under the jurisdiction of Hockey Canada or USA Hockey. They are not affiliated in any way with professional hockey leagues. Many former professional players play Senior hockey after their pro careers are over. The top Senior AAA teams in Canada compete annually for the Allan Cup. The Winnipeg Maroons were a minor League baseball team based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, which played in the Northern League from 1902–1942. The United States Hockey League (USHL) is the top junior ice hockey league sanctioned by USA Hockey.
