St. Albans High School
Saint Albans High School is a public high school in Kanawha County, West Virginia, Kanawha County, West Virginia, United States. Founded in 1909, it is located in the city of St. Albans, West Virginia, St. Albans. It is one of the eight public high schools in Kanawha County Schools. SAHS opened a newly renovated facility for the 2004 school year. History The school was founded in 1913 by Charles P. Guice and was then called Central Grade School, which was located on Sixth Avenue and Third Street in St Albans, WV. The class of 1916 were among the first graduates of the High School and after World War 1, student enrollment increased and a new building for the school was built. The new building was completed in 1924 and had multiple additions to add a gymnasium as well as more classrooms. In 1954, the another new High School was completed and stood there until 2003. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is an international non-profit Christian sports ministry founded in 1954 and based in Kansas City, Missouri. Gazette-Mail Kanawha County Majorette And Band Festival
The Gazette-Mail Kanawha County Majorette and Band Festival (formerly Daily Mail) is an annual festival dedicated to the public high school marching bands and majorette corps in Kanawha County, West Virginia. It is the longest running music festival in West Virginia and is held at the University of Charleston Stadium at Laidley Field in Charleston at the end of September each year, typically the last Tuesday. The first event was held in 1947 and was attended by nearly 25,000 people. The event was originally sponsored by the ''Charleston Daily Mail'' newspaper, but is now sponsored by the ''Charleston Gazette-Mail'' after the ''Daily Mail'' merged with the ''Charleston Gazette'' in 2015. Mu Alpha Theta () is the United States mathematics honor society for high school and two-year college students. In June 2015, it served over 108,000 student members in over 2,200 chapters in the United States and in 20 foreign countries. Key Club International, also called Key Club, is an international service organization for high school students. As a student-led organization, Key Club's goal is to encourage leadership through serving others. Key Club International is the high school branch of the Kiwanis International family, classifying as a Service Leadership Program and more specifically as a Kiwanis Youth Program.
