Srikanta Acharya is a Kolkata-based modern Bengali singer . Acharya is one of the most prominent exponents of Rabindra Sangeet. Early life Srikanta Acharya was born in Kolkata, India and is the son of Rohini Nandan Acharya and Kana Acharya. He received formal training in Rabindrasangeet from Dakshinee. He also received training in tabla from Ustad Ali Ahmed Khan. Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar (20 February 1953 – 10 December 2013) was an Indian royal, politician, and fashion designer, who served as a Member of Parliament from Mysore constituency. He was the son of Maharaja Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar, the last maharaja of Mysore. As a fashion designer, he promoted the sale of Mysore silk saris under his brand, Royal Silk of Mysore. In the second half of the 20th century, the South Indian silk industry was revived, and Mysore State became a top silk producer in India. Early life Born in 1953 as the only son of Maharaja Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar and his second wife, Maharani Tripura Sundari Devi, Srikantadatta Wadiyar succeeded his father as the head of the Wadiyar dynasty after his father's death on 9 September 1974. ''Srikanta'', also spelled ''Srikanto'', is a Bengali novel written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. Published in four parts between 1917 and 1933, It has been described as Sarat Chandra's 'masterpiece'. The novel takes its title after the name of its protagonist, Srikanta, who lives the life of a wanderer. Background In a conversation, Sarat Chandra revealed that the book is partly autobiographical, and his own life experiences provided the basis for the experiences of the protagonist Srikanta; however, he added a caveat: Although not a travelogue, the book is described as involving journeys—both physical and spiritual. ''Srikanta'' is a 2017 Indian Kannada-language romantic action drama film written and directed by Manju Swaraj. The film, which was released on 6 January 2017, was produced by M. S. Manu Gowda under the banner Mahashaila Cinebandha. Based on the 2-page short story ''Skhalana'' by Nagathihalli Chandrashekar which was published in 1985 in the weekly Kannada magazine ''Taranga'', the film features Shiva Rajkumar and Chandini Sreedharan in the lead roles along with Vijay Raghavendra in a key supporting role.
