Sri Lankan Cricket Team In Pakistan In 1995–96
The Sri Lanka national cricket team toured Pakistan from August to October 1995 and played a three-match Test series against the Pakistan national cricket team. Sri Lanka won the Test series 2–1. Sri Lanka were captained by Arjuna Ranatunga and Pakistan by Rameez Raja. In addition, the teams played a three-match Limited Overs International (LOI) series which Sri Lanka won 2–1. Sri Lanka won both series having lost the first match in each. Sri Lanka National Cricket Team
The Sri Lanka men's national cricket team, ( si, ශ්රී ලංකා ජාතික ක්රිකට් කණ්ඩායම, ta, இலங்கை தேசிய கிரிக்கெட் அணி) nicknamed The Lions, represents Sri Lanka in men's international cricket. It is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test, One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) status. The team first played international cricket (as Ceylon) in 1926–27, and were later awarded Test status in 1981, which made Sri Lanka the eighth Test cricket playing nation. The team is administered by Sri Lanka Cricket. Sri Lanka's national cricket team achieved considerable success beginning in the 1990s, rising from underdog status to winning the Cricket World Cup in 1996, under the captaincy of Arjuna Ranatunga. Brian Aldridge (cricketer)
Brian Leslie Aldridge (30 June 1940 – 9 December 2021) was a New Zealand cricket umpire. Aldridge was one of the umpires in the 1992 Cricket World Cup final between England and Pakistan. At his death, he was still the only New Zealander to officiate in a World Cup final. He stood in 26 Test matches and 45 ODI games between 1986 and 1995. As well as 20 Tests in New Zealand, he umpired three Tests in Sri Lanka, two in Pakistan and one in Zimbabwe. In all, he umpired 84 first-class matches between 1979 and 1995. In 1997, Aldridge became New Zealand Cricket's first-ever full-time umpire manager, a post he held until his retirement in 2008. He was awarded the Queen's Service Medal in the 2012 New Year Honours, for services to cricket administration. Outside cricket, he worked as a builder. Mohammad Akram (cricketer)
Mohammad Akram (Urdu: محمد اکرم; born 10 September 1974) is a former Pakistani cricketer. He is the current Director of Cricket for the Pakistan Super League team Peshawar Zalmi. He was a right-arm fast-medium bowler who played in 9 Test matches and 23 One Day International matches for Pakistan between 1995–1996 and 2000–2001. Nigel Plews
Nigel Trevor Plews (5 September 1934 – 19 October 2008) was a cricket umpire, who stood in first-class and international level matches. He was born in Nottingham. Plews was unusual for a top-level English umpire, in that he was one of only four umpires who have stood in Tests in England since World War II who did not play first-class cricket. He stood in 11 Test matches between 1988 and 1995. He took up umpiring full-time after retiring from a 25-year career with the Nottingham city police force, where he was a detective sergeant – he was nicknamed "Serge" on the field – in the Fraud Squad. He also stood in 16 One Day International matches and officiated at 11 Tests before retiring. Plews died of renal cancer on 19 October 2008. Khizer Hayat
Khizer Hayat (Urdu: خضرحيات, born 5 January 1939) is a Pakistani former cricket player and umpire. He played first-class cricket for ten years before taking up umpiring and retired having officiated in 34 Test matches and 55 One Day International matches. Moin Khan
Muhammad Moin Khan ( ur, ; born 23 September 1971) is a Pakistani cricket coach and former cricketer, primarily a wicketkeeper-batsman, who remained a member of the Pakistani national cricket team from 1990 to 2004. Deshabandu Pinnaduwage Aravinda de Silva ( si, අරවින්ද ද සිල්වා; born 17 October 1965) is a former Sri Lankan cricketer and captain, who has also played in English county cricket. de Silva helped Sri Lanka to win the 1996 Cricket World Cup and brought Sri Lanka from underdog status to present-day form.
