Sri Lankan Cricket Team In New Zealand In 1994–95
The Sri Lankan national cricket team toured New Zealand February to April 1995 and played a two-match Test series against the New Zealand national cricket team. Sri Lanka won the series 1–0. New Zealand were captained by Ken Rutherford and Sri Lanka by Arjuna Ranatunga. In addition, the teams went on to play a three-match series of Limited Overs Internationals (LOI) which New Zealand won 2–1. This was the first time that Sri Lanka won a test as well as a test series in New Zealand. The Sri Lanka men's national cricket team, ( si, ශ්රී ලංකා ජාතික ක්රිකට් කණ්ඩායම, ta, இலங்கை தேசிய கிரிக்கெட் அணி) nicknamed The Lions, represents Sri Lanka in men's international cricket. It is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test, One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) status. The team first played international cricket (as Ceylon) in 1926–27, and were later awarded Test status in 1981, which made Sri Lanka the eighth Test cricket playing nation. The team is administered by Sri Lanka Cricket. Steve Randell
Stephen Grant Randell (born 19 February 1956) is a former Australian Test cricket match umpire, the first to come from Tasmania. He was convicted in 1999 of 15 counts of sexual assault against nine schoolgirls of ages 10–12 while teaching at a Catholic primary school between 1981 and 1982. Biography Randell was born in Hobart, Tasmania. He umpired 36 Test matches between 1984 and 1998 the highest number by an Australian umpire to that time (the previous highest was Tony Crafter’s 33 matches). His first match was between Australia and the West Indies at Melbourne on 22 to 27 December 1984, a drawn match with Australia holding on in the final innings, thanks to a determined century by Andrew Hilditch to deny the West Indies a 12th consecutive Test victory. Brian Aldridge (cricketer)
Brian Leslie Aldridge (30 June 1940 – 9 December 2021) was a New Zealand cricket umpire. Aldridge was one of the umpires in the 1992 Cricket World Cup final between England and Pakistan. At his death, he was still the only New Zealander to officiate in a World Cup final. He stood in 26 Test matches and 45 ODI games between 1986 and 1995. As well as 20 Tests in New Zealand, he umpired three Tests in Sri Lanka, two in Pakistan and one in Zimbabwe. In all, he umpired 84 first-class matches between 1979 and 1995. In 1997, Aldridge became New Zealand Cricket's first-ever full-time umpire manager, a post he held until his retirement in 2008. He was awarded the Queen's Service Medal in the 2012 New Year Honours, for services to cricket administration. Outside cricket, he worked as a builder. Lancaster Park
Lancaster Park, also known as Jade Stadium and AMI Stadium for sponsorship reasons, was a sports stadium in Waltham, a suburb of Christchurch in New Zealand. The stadium was closed permanently due to damage sustained in the February 2011 earthquake and subsequently demolished in 2019. It was reopened in 2022. The stadium had been the venue for various sports including rugby union, cricket, rugby league, association football, athletics and trotting. Justin Vaughan
Justin Thomas Caldwell Vaughan (born 30 August 1967) is a former New Zealand cricketer who played six Test matches and 18 One Day Internationals between 1992 and 1997. He is a doctor of medicine by profession. Life and career Vaughan was an all-rounder: a left-handed middle-order batsman and right-arm medium-pace bowler. He played first-class cricket for Auckland in New Zealand domestic cricket from 1990 to 1997. He also had a season in England with Gloucestershire in 1992. Deshabandu Pinnaduwage Aravinda de Silva ( si, අරවින්ද ද සිල්වා; born 17 October 1965) is a former Sri Lankan cricketer and captain, who has also played in English county cricket. de Silva helped Sri Lanka to win the 1996 Cricket World Cup and brought Sri Lanka from underdog status to present-day form. Deshabandu Karuppiahyage Ravindra Pushpakumara (born 21 July 1975 in Panadura ), or Ravindra Pushpakumara, is a former Sri Lankan cricketer of Tamil - Sinhalese mixed ancestry. Chris Cairns
Christopher Lance Cairns (born 13 June 1970) is a former New Zealand cricketer and former ODI captain, who played for the New Zealand cricket team as an all-rounder. Cairns finished his Test career with a batting average of 33.53 and a bowling average of 29.40. In 2000, he was named as one of five Wisden Cricketers of the Year. Dipak Narshibhai Patel ( gu, દિપક પટેલ; born 25 October 1958) is a Kenyan-born former New Zealand cricketer, who played 37 Tests and 75 One Day Internationals for the New Zealand cricket team. He is the current spin bowling coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League for 2018. Deshabandu Asanka Pradeep Gurusinha (born 16 September 1966) is a Sri Lankan Australian former international cricketer who had an 11-year international career, playing 41 Tests and 147 One Day Internationals for Sri Lanka.
