Squash is a popular sport in Egypt. As of 2018, Egypt was a squash superpower. It has been producing top players since the 1930s, and it is believed that former president Hosni Mubarak, a keen player himself, gave it a major boost in the 1990s. It has also been said that the current success is the result of an investment in the sport of Egyptian society as a whole. Rowan Reda Araby or Rowan Elaraby (born 29 July 2000 in Alexandria) is an Egyptian professional squash player. As of April 2022, she was ranked number 8 in the world. Araby won the 2022 Carol Weimoller Women's Squash Championship, after defeating Malaysian player Sivasanjari Subramaniam 3–1, for the first time in her history. Hania El Hammamy (born 1 September 2000 in Cairo) is an Egyptian professional squash player. She became a top seed in women's junior squash rankings at the age of 16. As of January 2022, she is ranked number 3 in the world. Biography El Hammamy initially pursued her interest in gymnastics but later began playing squash after being inspired by her brother Karim El Hammamy who is also a professional squash player. She also currently pursuing a degree in marketing at The American University in Cairo. Marwan El Shorbagy (born July 30, 1993, in Alexandria) is a professional squash player who represents Egypt. He reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 3 in May 2018. Mazen Hesham (born 29 March 1994 in Cairo) is a professional squash player who represents Egypt. He reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 8 in March 2022. Career Hesham first became prominent in 2012, when he secured third place in the WSF junior championships in Doha. Following this victory he joined the PSA world Tour. Hesham secured his first PSA world tour title in March of the same year in the NSC scram series in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. Ali Amr Farag (; born 22 April 1992) is an Egyptian professional squash player. He is the 2018–19, 2020–21 and 2021–22 World Champion, and is currently ranked as world No. 1 by the Professional Squash Association (PSA). Education Farag graduated from Harvard University in 2014 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Nour El Sherbini
Nour El Sherbini ( ar, نور الشربيني; born 1 November 1995) is an Egyptian professional squash player. She is a six time World champion and became the youngest woman to win the Women's World Championship (2015). In 2016, she retained her title and in 2019 won her third World Championship equalling the feat of Michelle Martin and rising to equal fourth in the all-time list of world championships won.
