Squamish Valley Music Festival
The Squamish Valley Music Festival (pronounced ), previously LIVE at Squamish, was an annual music festival co-produced by Vancouver-based BRANDLIVE Management group and Live Nation Canada, and held in Squamish, British Columbia, Canada, over the second weekend in August. Widely recognized as the largest and most exciting contemporary music festival in the Pacific Northwest region, with in excess of 120,000 people attending in 2015 alone. The festival was cancelled in 2016. History The festival began in 2010, and has attracted headlining artists including Bad Religion, Metric, The Tragically Hip, Childish Gambino, Weezer, Matthew Good, City and Colour, Girl Talk, Vampire Weekend, Queens of the Stone Age, Eminem, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and Pretty Lights. Squamish, British Columbia
Squamish (; Squamish language, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh sníchim: Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, ; 2016 census population 19,512) is a community and a district municipality in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of British Columbia, located at the north end of Howe Sound on the British Columbia Highway 99, Sea to Sky Highway. The population of the Squamish census agglomeration, which includes Indian reserve, First Nation reserves of the Squamish Nation although they are not governed by the municipality, is 19,893. Indigenous Squamish people have lived in the area for thousands of years. The town of Squamish had its beginning during the construction of the BC Rail, Pacific Great Eastern Railway in the 1910s. Mumford & Sons is a British folk rock band formed in London in 2007. The band currently consists of Marcus Mumford (lead vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, drums), Ted Dwane (vocals, bass guitar, double bass), and Ben Lovett (vocals, keyboards, piano). Andrew Mayer Cohen (born February 2, 1979), better known by his stage name Mayer Hawthorne, is an American singer, producer, songwriter, arranger, audio engineer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles, California. Cohen performs and records in the groups Tuxedo and Jaded Incorporated and has been nominated for a Grammy award. Early life Cohen was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The stage name "Mayer Hawthorne" is a combination of Cohen's real middle name (Mayer) and Hawthorne Road, the street he grew up on. The Zolas
The Zolas are a Canadian indie rock band based in Vancouver and are signed to Light Organ Records. The band was formed by duo Zachary Gray (vocals/guitar) and Tom Dobrzanski (piano/keyboards/backing vocals), with various session musicians supporting them live and on record. The group has since expanded, adding Dwight Abell (bass/backing vocals) and Cody Hiles (drums/backing vocals) permanently to their lineup in 2015. Nico & Vinz are a Norwegian duo consisting of Kahouly Nicolay "Nico" Sereba from Holmlia, Oslo and Vincent "Vinzy V" Dery from Lambertseter, Oslo. They formed in 2010 as Envy but changed their name to Nico & Vinz by the end of 2012. Hayden Jerome Kramer, better known by his stage name Herobust, is an American record producer, DJ and musician from Atlanta, Georgia. Kramer's hip-hop inspired bass music quickly garnered the attention of online media giants such as ''Rolling Stone'', ''Vice'', ''The Huffington Post'' and MTV. Sleepy Tom
Cam Tatham, known by his stage name Sleepy Tom, is a Canadian DJ and music producer. He released his first EP ''The Currency'' on Fool's Gold Records in March 2013. The music video for lead track, "The Currency", debuted on ''Rolling Stone's'' website. In August 2014, he played at the fifth annual Squamish Valley Music Festival.
