Spumco, Inc. (stylized as SPüMCø) was an American animation studio that was active from 1989 to 2005 and based in Los Angeles, California. The studio was best known for working on the first two seasons of ''The Ren & Stimpy Show'' for Nickelodeon and for various commercials. The studio won several awards, including an Annie Award for Best Animated Short Subject for the music video of the song " I Miss You" by Björk. Spümcø was founded by animators John Kricfalusi, Bob Camp, Jim Smith and Lynne Naylor. Kricfalusi named the company after the fictional person "Raymond Spüm", whom he jokingly described as the inventor of animation. The Ren & Stimpy Show
''The Ren & Stimpy Show'' (also known as ''Ren & Stimpy'') is an American animated television series created by Canadian animator John Kricfalusi. Originally produced by Spümcø for Nickelodeon, the series aired from August 11, 1991, to December 16, 1995, with a total of five seasons and 52 episodes. The series follows the adventures of Ren Höek, an emotionally unstable and sociopathic chihuahua dog; and Stimpy, a good-natured and dimwitted manx cat. ''The Ren & Stimpy Show'' is the third of Nickelodeon's original animated seriesknown as "Nicktoons"alongside ''Rugrats'' and '' Doug''. John Kricfalusi
Michael John Kricfalusi ( ; born September 9, 1955), known professionally as John K., is a Canadian illustrator, blogger, voice actor and former animator. He is the creator of the animated television series ''The Ren & Stimpy Show'', which was highly influential on televised animation during the 1990s. From 1989 to 1992, he was heavily involved with the first two seasons of the show in virtually every aspect of its production, including providing the voice of Ren Höek and other characters. In 2009, he won the Inkpot Award. Born in Quebec, Kricfalusi spent his early childhood in Germany and Belgium before returning to Canada at age seven. He acquired his skills largely by copying cartoons from newspapers and comic books as a child, and by studying cartoons and their production systems from the 1940s and 1950s. Robert Frank Camp (born February 7, 1956) is an American animator, writer, cartoonist, comic book artist, storyboard artist, director, and producer. Camp has been nominated for two Emmys, a CableACE Award, and an Annie Award for his work on ''The Ren & Stimpy Show''. Career Camp started his animation career as a designer for animated series such as '' ThunderCats'', ''Silverhawks'', ''TigerSharks'', and several other series produced by Rankin/Bass. Rae Naylor (born November 7, 1953) is a Canadian animator, artist, designer, director, and producer for television. She is best known for co-creating DreamWorks' ''The Mighty Ones'', co-founding the animation studio Spümcø with John Kricfalusi, Bob Camp, and Jim Smith, and co-developing ''The Ren & Stimpy Show'' for Nickelodeon. James Carl Jobb (born October 8, 1954), known professionally as Jim Smith, is an American animator and musician. He worked on '' Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures'' with his long-time working partner John Kricfalusi. Smith later briefly worked on ''Tiny Toon Adventures'', and then along with Kricfalusi, Bob Camp and Lynne Naylor he founded Spümcø, where he co-created ''The Ren & Stimpy Show'' and ''The Ripping Friends ''The Ripping Friends: The World's Most Manly Men!'' Stephen Worth is an American producer of animation. Worth was a producer for Bagdasarian Productions, Ralph Bakshi and John Kricfalusi's production company Spümcø. Career Worth studied at University of California, Los Angeles, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Design in 1982. He trained as an artist, but entered the film business as a production assistant at FilmFair studios, a commercial production house specializing in animation. He began researching the techniques and materials used in classic animations along with Lew Stude, and formed Vintage Ink & Paint, an animation art restoration facility in Burbank, California.
