Hap Spuhler
Raymond H. "Hap" Spuhler (December 1, 1918 – November 26, 1982) was an American college head baseball coach and athletic director at George Mason for 12 years. He also served as men's basketball coach of the Patriots for three seasons. Spuhler played basketball at Duke, serving as captain of a team that won the 1942 Southern Conference men's basketball tournament. He served for 23 in the US Marines, reaching the rank of lieutenant colonel. He then spent two years as athletic director at St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Austin, Texas before joining George Mason. He led the Patriots' transition from NAIA to NCAA Division I, including the introduction of athletic scholarships, during his tenure. In baseball, the Patriots only losing season was his first, and they appeared three times in the NAIA Playoffs, including a fifth-place finish in the NAIA World Series in 1976. Spuhler Field
Raymond H. "Hap" Spuhler Field is a baseball venue in Fairfax, Virginia, United States. It is home to the George Mason Patriots baseball team of the NCAA Division I Atlantic 10 Conference. Opened in 1986, it has a capacity of 900 spectators. It is named for Raymond H. "Hap" Spuhler, the first head coach of George Mason's baseball program. History Spuhler Field was opened in 1986. Prior to its opening, George Mason baseball used several area venues as temporary home fields. The field received several awards in the early 2000s for the quality of its playing surface. In 1999–2000, the Beam Clay College Baseball Diamond of the Year Award ranked Spuhler Field third, and in 2000–2001, it ranked the field second. In 2002, the Sports Turf Managers Association awarded the field the college and university division's Baseball Field of the Year Award. In 2003, the field's playing surface was renovated. James Spuhler
James Norman Spuhler (March 1, 1917 – September 2, 1992) was an American biological anthropologist who has been described as "the founder of anthropological genetics". He taught at the University of New Mexico from 1967 to 1984, where his research focused on human genetics. In 1990, he received the NAS Award for Scientific Reviewing. Peter Spuhler
Peter Christoph Spuhler (born 9 January 1959) is a Swiss industrialist and politician of the Swiss People's Party, where from 1999 to 2012 he served as a member of the Swiss National Council for the canton of Thurgau. Spuhler was CEO of the family firm Stadler Rail from 1989 to 2017 and from 2020 onwards. As of April 2019, he held a 40% shareholding in Stadler. Early and Personal life Peter Spuhler was born in Seville, Spain. After completing his compulsory and tertiary education in Zurich, as well as compulsory military service, he studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen from 1980 to 1986.
