Spud (film)
''Spud'' is a 2010 South African comedy-drama film written and directed by Donovan Marsh, based on the novel of the same name by John van de Ruit. The film stars Troye Sivan as the title character, alongside John Cleese, Jason Cope and Tanit Phoenix. It was released in South Africa on 3 December 2010. Plot In 1990s South Africa, fourteen-year-old John Milton (Troye Sivan) spends his first year at an elite boarding school for boys. Idaho Spud
The Idaho Spud is a candy bar made by the Idaho Candy Company. It has been produced since 1918 and is distributed primarily throughout the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. The wrapper of the product bears the slogan "The Candy Bar That Makes Idaho Famous." The bar was invented by Thomas "T.O." Smith, who founded the Idaho Candy Company in 1901. Sales According to the Idaho Candy Company, the Idaho Spud is in the top 100 best-selling candy bars in the Northwest United States. The bar is sold at room temperature, but is often frozen before consumption. They are also sold as bite size candies in clear plastic tubs. CJRW-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 102.1 FM in Summerside, Prince Edward Island owned & operated by the Maritime Broadcasting System. The station plays an adult contemporary format branded on-air as ''102 Spud FM''. CJRW is the only radio station in Prince Edward Island that is not being licensed to Charlottetown. History The station was launched in 1927 as CHGS originally broadcasting at 1120 on the AM dial. In 1934, the station moved to 1450, then to 1480 in 1941, and then to its final AM frequency at 1240 in 1948. The station also adopted its current call letters at the time. The bark spud (also known as a peeling iron, peeler bar, peeling spud, or abbreviated to spud) is an implement which is used to remove bark from felled timber. Construction Most bark spuds have steel heads and wooden handles, typically hickory or ash. The head is curved, sometimes in one direction with a single cutting edge, and sometimes more dish shaped and sharpened on three sides. Method of use In use, the sharpened edge is slid between the bark and the wood, removing the bark from the tree in a number of strips. Spud Drive-In Theater
The Spud Drive-In Theater is a drive-in theater between Victor and Driggs, Idaho. Background Located in a potato-farming region, the theater's entrance sign features a giant potato on the back of a 1946 Chevrolet flat-bed truck. The drive-in was built by Ace Wood in 1953. The theatre has also hosted concerts, including a 2010 concert by the band Widespread Panic. Financial difficulties in 2011 threatened to close the drive-in, but arrangements were made to continue its operation. On the evening of April 4, 2022, the original screen structure was destroyed in a windstorm. Manager Katie Mumm said that it would be rebuilt in the same colors as the original structure and that they will probably need to replace the screen. In August 2023, MD Nursery purchased the Spud. Spuds is an unincorporated community in St. Johns County, Florida, United States. The community is situated in a region that depends economically on potato growing and other agriculture. As well as potatoes, the land around Spuds provides gladioli. A camp for German prisoners of war was built in Spuds during World War II, close to the intersection between State Roads 206 and 207.
