Parham Road is a four-lane divided highway that passes along the west and north side of Richmond from SR 150 near the James River to US 301 just south of I-295. SR 73 was planned and built as a simple trumpet connection between I-95 and US 1; the number was assigned in 1958. State Highways Serving Virginia State Institutions
In the US state of Virginia, some state highways have been specifically designated to serve state parks and state institutions. State Route 217 and the range of numbers from State Route 302 to State Route 399 are currently used (non-exclusively) for this purpose. SR 217 State Route 217 is the designation for the roads on the grounds of the Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute (State Street, Morison Drive, Hospital Avenue) in Smyth County that are maintained by the Virginia Department of Transportation. Petersburg is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 33,458. The Bureau of Economic Analysis combines Petersburg (along with the city of Colonial Heights) with Dinwiddie County for statistical purposes. State Route 42 (SR 42) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of Virginia. Running parallel to and west of Interstate 81, SR 42 consists of three sections, with gaps filled by secondary routes in between. Some of SR 42 lies along the old Fincastle Turnpike. Another major piece, from near Clifton Forge to Buffalo Gap, parallels the old Virginia Central Railroad.
