''Sportz Crazy'' is an eight part Australian documentary series about unusual sports events around Australia. It was meant to premiere in 1988 but did not air until December of that year. It included pieces on the Birdsville Races and dwarf throwing. Peter Luck Peter Anthony Luck (5 January 1944 – 6 September 2017) was an Australian author, TV journalist, producer and presenter. Career As a television personality, among the shows he worked on were ''This Day Tonight'', ''Four Corners'', ''Sunday'', ... called it "one of those programs that does its best to make Australians look like the greatest bunch of dickheads and drongos in the southern hemisphere." Jack Thompson (actor)
Jack Thompson, AM (born John Hadley Pain; 31 August 1940) is an Australian actor and a major figure of Australian cinema, particularly Australian New Wave. He was educated at University of Queensland, before embarking on his acting career. In 2002, he was made an honorary member of the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS). He is best known as a lead actor in several acclaimed Australian films, including such classics as '' The Club'' (1980), '' Sunday Too Far Away'' (1975), ''The Man from Snowy River'' (1982) and ''Petersen'' (1974). He won Cannes and AFI acting awards for the latter film. He was the recipient of a Living Legend Award at the 2005 Inside Film Awards. Kennedy Miller Mitchell (known before 2009 as Kennedy Miller) is an Australian film, television and video game production house in Potts Point, Sydney, that has been producing television and film since 1978. It is responsible for some of Australia's best-known and most successful films, including the four ''Mad Max'' films, the two ''Babe'' films, and the two ''Happy Feet'' films. Kennedy Miller Mitchell is one of Australia's oldest existing film production companies, and the most successful internationally. Birdsville Races
The Birdsville Races are horse races held each year in September in the Queensland, Australia, town of Birdsville. Funds are raised in aid of the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia. The population is swelled from about 100 to around 7,000 people for the two-day event. As Birdsville is very remote, many travellers come by air and hundreds of aircraft fill the town's airstrip. The town of Quilpie celebrates the event by welcoming travellers who are heading westwards to Birdsville by road. In 2009 as part of the Q150 celebrations, the Birdsville Races were announced as one of the Q150 Icons of Queensland for its role as an "event and festival". Peter Anthony Luck (5 January 1944 – 6 September 2017) was an Australian author, TV journalist, producer and presenter.
