As the capital of North Macedonia, Skopje is home to several sports teams and venues. FK Vardar and FK Rabotnički are the two strongest and most popular football teams, whilst RK Kometal Gjorče Petrov is the most popular handball team, being a European Women's EHF Champions League champion for 2002.While WHC Vardar are five-time medalists with three bronze and two silver medals at Women's EHF Champions League F4. 2017 UEFA Super Cup
The 2017 UEFA Super Cup was the 42nd edition of the UEFA Super Cup, an annual football match organised by UEFA and contested by the reigning champions of the two main European club competitions, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. The match featured Spanish side Real Madrid, the title holders and winners of the 2016–17 UEFA Champions League, and English side Manchester United, the winners of the 2016–17 UEFA Europa League. FK Gorno Lisiče
FK Gorno Lisiče ( mk, ФК Горно Лисиче) is a football club from Gorno Lisiče in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. They currently play in the 3.MFL (North). History The club played its first match in 1940 under the name ''Lisiče'' against ''Lebane'' from Leskovac. Over the years, the team has used a few different names, first ''Udarnik'' and later ''Bratstvo Edinstvo''. For a period of time it also used the name ''Tehnokom'', a firm that saved the club when it was in financial trouble. After the sponsor left only with the help of the Gorno Lisiče citizens, players and club board, it was saved from the brink of extinction. Today, the club uses the name ''FK Euromilk Gorno Lisiče'' and successfully competes in the Macedonian Second League. Macedonian Third League
The Macedonian Third League ( mk, Македонска Трета Лига - Makedonska Treta Liga) is the third highest football competition in North Macedonia. In 2019–20, the competition will be divided into five divisions named Third League - North (Трета Лига - Север), Third League - Center (Трета Лига - Центар), Third League - Southeast (Трета Лига - Југоисток), Third League - West (Трета Лига - Запад) and Third League - Southwest (Трета Лига-Југозапад). At the end of the season, the winners of the North, West and Southwest divisions will be play in a play-off for promotion to the Macedonian Second League, while the winners of Center and Southeast divisions will be directly promoted to the Second League. FK Lokomotiva Skopje
FK Lokomotiva Skopje ( mk, ФК Локомотива Скопје) is a football club based in the Karpoš neighborhood of Skopje, North Macedonia. They are currently competing in the Macedonian Second League. History The club was founded in 1954, as the railway club, therefore it was sometimes called ŽFK Lokomotiva. In the past they played their matches on the home ground of FK Rabotnički, and so often youth players from Rabotnički came to the club for development. Many decades later it moved to the current stadium location in Skopje settlement Karpoš. To the older generation it was known as Komunalec, because on that field played FK Komunalec, and also the club FK Vanila, but now neither team exists anymore. The Macedonian Second Football League ( mk, Втора македонска Фудбалска Лига, ''Vtora Makedonska Fudbalska Liga''; also called Macedonian Second League, 2. MFL and Vtora Liga) is the second-highest professional football (soccer), football competition in North Macedonia. The competition is contested by 16 clubs, playing each other 2 times over 30 rounds.
