Sponge Cola (album)
''Sponge Cola'' is the self-titled third studio album by the Pinoy rock band Sponge Cola. Under Universal Records, Sponge Cola is already out in all major record bars. This was the last album to feature original drummer Chris Cantada who left the band following the release of the album due to a health problem. "Puso" is the first single from the album and is frequently heard after games during the UAAP Broadcast on Studio 23 as it was selected as the theme song for season 71. Their 2nd single "Di Na Mababawi", marked the band's departure from the standard full band rock formula, opting for simpler instrumentation. They then released the repackaged version of this album along with the 3rd single Ayt. The new version of the song featured Gary Valenciano on vocals and synths. Sponge Cola (sometimes spelled Spongecola) is a Filipino rock band formed in 2002. The band is composed of Yael Yuzon on vocals and guitars, Gosh Dilay on bass, Armo Armovit on guitars and drummer Tedmark Cruz. One of the most popular rock bands in the Philippines, Sponge Cola has produced a number of hit songs, including "Jeepney", "KLSP", "Gemini", "Bitiw", "Tuliro", "Di Na Mababawi", "Tambay", "Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay", and "XGF". The band's debut album, ''Palabas'', was released in 2004. It was followed by ''Transit'' (2006) and ''Sponge Cola'' (2008), the latter of which was the last to feature their original drummer Chris Cantada. Pinoy rock, or Filipino rock, is the brand of rock music produced in the Philippines or by Filipinos. Patrick Darroles Tirano, best known simply as "Pat Tirano", is a Filipino musician and, notably, an audio engineer and record producer. He plays music with numerous acts in the Philippine music scene, including Monkeyspank, Archipelago, Soaked in Scissors, and TOI. Yan "Yanni" Yrastorza Yuzon is a Filipino musician best known as the former guitarist of the band Pupil. He is currently the lead vocalist and guitarist for the band, Archipelago. Early life Born on March 7, 1978, Lead guitarist Yan Yrastorza Yuzon is the older brother of Sponge Cola guitarist and frontman, Yael Yuzon. The Yuzons are of Filipino and Basque descent. He is the older child of Johnny Yuzon (father) and Elsa Yuzon (mother) with middle brother Yael and younger sister Ysabel. He also taught theater direction at the Ateneo de Manila University. ''Transit'' is the second studio album by the Pinoy rock band Sponge Cola, released on September 8, 2006, and their first under Universal Records. The album was certified Platinum by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI) with sales of 40,000 physical CD copies to date. ''Transit'' spawned a carrier single, "Bitiw", which was released to radio stations on August 23. In 2008, ''Transit'' was re-released as ''Transit Deluxe'', which features additional songs, acoustic versions of songs, a cover song by APO Hiking Society, and a radio edit version, as well as a Video CD (VCD) containing music videos. ''Tambay'' is the second EP by the Pinoy rock band Sponge Cola, released under Universal Records on April 19, 2011. Scope After a three-year hiatus due to personal issues, on April 19, 2011, Sponge Cola released its second EP, ''Tambay''. It is only available by purchasing three 1.5 Liter Coca-Cola's at supermarkets and exchanging the receipt to a nearby redemption center. The album contains six tracks, the shortest of all albums they had made in years, but Yael says that it will contain newer and catchy tunes that will entice new listeners and as well as their long-time followers. Chris Cantada
Chris Cantada is a Filipino musician, vlogger and cosplayer best known as the former drummer and backing vocalist of the band Sponge Cola. He was featured in the music video of Sponge Cola's "Tambay" in a cameo guest appearance per post band departure. Cantada released his solo album ''Heartbeat'' with the carrier single of the same name. The music video for "Heartbeat" shows Cantada played all musical instruments for the song. Nesthy Alcayde Petecio (born April 11, 1992) is a Philippines, Filipino amateur boxer.
