Split View Mountain Lodge
Split View Mountain Lodge (also occasionally called Havsdalen Holiday Home or Holiday Home Havsdalen) is an architecture project by the firm Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter near the ski resort Havsdalen in Geilo, Norway. It won the 2016 German Design Award for ''Excellent Communications Design'' in Architecture. The house has also been the subject of coverage in architecture magazines including ''EK'' and ''Plain''. It was commissioned in 2011 by a private client to be a holiday home, to be built with 4 bedrooms. The building has been praised for integrating into its landscape and being a good example of contemporary Norwegian architecture. The home's façade splits into 2 living areas after the main wing. There is also a detached annex to accommodate guests. The siding is largely made from timber, which is a common feature of Norwegian architecture. German Design Award
The Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany (german: Designpreis der Bundesrepublik Deutschland) is the official design award for Germany presented by the German Ministry for Economics and Technology. The award was given for the first time under the name 'Federal Award for Good Design' in 1969 and thereafter every two years. Moreover, the focus of the award was changed on each occasion. The name of the award was first changed in 1992. Thereafter, the Federal Product Design Award and the Federal Award Promoter of Design – which went to a personality for achievements in the design field – were presented annually. The Modern House
The Modern House is a British estate agent that specialises in the sale and promotion of Modernist and 20th century architecture. It was founded by Matt Gibberd and Albert Hill in 2005. Gibberd and Hill met at school in Dorset and collected training shoes and Memphis Group furniture in their respective youths. Gibberd's grandfather was the modernist architect Frederick Gibberd. At the time the pair launched The Modern House, the pair were both editors on magazines; Gibberd was a senior editor at ''World of Interiors'' and Hill was the design editor of ''Wallpaper*''. The idea for the estate agent arose when Hill interviewed Martie Lieberman, an estate agent of Modern houses designed by Paul Rudolph in Sarasota in Florida. Marc Charles Kushner (born September 27, 1977) is an American architect, entrepreneur and author. He was a partner at the New York City based architecture firm Hollwich Kushner and co-founded Architizer. Early life and education The son of Lee Kushner and real estate developer Murray Kushner, Marc Kushner was raised Modern Orthodox Jewish in Livingston, New Jersey. Siding or wall cladding is the protective material attached to the exterior side of a wall of a house or other building. Geilo
is a centre in the municipality of Hol in Viken county, Norway. Geilo is primarily a ski resort town, with around 2,500 inhabitants. It is situated in the valley of Hallingdal, 250 km from Oslo and 260 km from Bergen. The Bergen Line facilitated Geilo's development as the first skiing resort in the country, and it is still one of the largest. It is also known for having some of the most luxurious and expensive holiday cabins in Norway.
