Splinter (political Party)
Splinter is a political party in the Netherlands. It was founded in December 2020 by Femke Merel van Kooten, who has led it since and served as its ''lijsttrekker'' in the 2021 general election. It has a progressive, secular and social liberal ideology. History The party was founded in December 2020 by Femke Merel van Kooten-Arissen, who had been an independent member of the House of Representatives since 16 July 2019. She was first elected for the Party for the Animals in the 2017 election. The party participated in the 2021 election, but did not receive enough votes for a seat in the House of Representatives. The party's logo is a multi-colored phoenix, a mythical creature reborn from its own ashes over and over again. It is a reference to the COVID-19 pandemic from which the Netherlands will have to resurrect, but the phoenix also symbolizes the political career of Van Kooten-Arissen. Femke Merel Van Kooten
Femke Merel van Kooten-Arissen (born 9 November 1983) is a Dutch politician and former member of the House of Representatives. She was first elected in the 2017 general election, in which she stood as a member of the Party for the Animals (Partij voor de Dieren - PvdD). From 15 October 2018 to 4 February 2019, she was on maternity leave from Parliament. On 16 July 2019, she left the PvdD and became an independent MP. In December 2019, she joined 50Plus but remained an independent member of parliament. She left 50Plus in May 2020 together with its leader Henk Krol, forming the Party for the Future (''Partij voor de Toekomst'' - PvdT). After about three months, in early August 2020, she left the PvdT in opposition to its merger with Group Otten (''Groep Otten'' - GO), a party formed by former members of the far right Forum for Democracy (''Forum voor Democratie'' - FVD). The Night Wolves ( rus, Ночные Волки, r=Nochnye Volki) or Night Wolves Motorcycle Club is a Russian motorcycle club that was founded around the Moscow area in 1989. It holds an international status with at least 45 chapters world-wide. History The club began forming out of a mixture of rock music fans and motorcycle enthusiasts who held then-illegal rock concerts in Moscow (see Censorship in the Soviet Union) as far back as 1983.
