Mönckebergstraße
The Mönckebergstraße (locally also called Mö) is one of the main shopping streets in Hamburg, Germany. Mönckebergstraße is located in Hamburg-Altstadt, running some 800 m in east-west-direction between the Hauptbahnhof at Steintorwall and the Rathaus at Rathausmarkt. It is named after Johann Georg Mönckeberg, mayor of Hamburg in the 1890s and 1900s. On the south side, Mönckebergstraße passes the churches of St. Petri and St. Jacobi. Halfway in between, at Gerhart-Hauptmann-Platz, Mönckebergstraße intersects with Spitalerstraße, another important shopping street. Gerhart-Hauptmann-Platz (''Gerhart Hauptmann Square'') is a central square in Altstadt quarter, Hamburg, Germany. The former Pferdemarkt (''Horse Market'') is located at the junction of the streets of Mönckebergstraße, Spitalerstraße and Alstertor. The southern part of the square was renamed into Ida-Ehre-Platz (''Ida Ehre'' Square) on 9 July 2000, in honour of the actress and intendant of Hamburger Kammerspiele. Hamburg Wallring
The Wallring () is a semi-circular urban ensemble encircling the inner city of Hamburg. It consists of a four-lane ring road with a total length of and a continuous built-up street front on its inner side. The outer perimeter is – for the largest part – made up by a string of parks. The Wallring follows the outline of Hamburg's old city wall, and was developed in the first half of the 19th century, when the defensive wall, the (Wallanlagen), was razed. The wall that defined the city's edge from the 1620s until the 1840s has had a strong impact on shaping the modern city. The Wallring park consists of several differently named sections, which — based on their common historical development — are characterized by a certain unity, but also by a number of dissimilarities. Jan Van Valckenborgh
Johan van Valckenburgh (c. 1575 − 1624) was a Dutch military engineer who built fortresses. He is known for building the ''Bastion Henricus'' which was a fortification around Hamburg. Today the Hamburg History Museum is on this site. Biography van Volckenburg was born in about 1575. He was working for Maurice of Orange in 1606 under the tutelage of Johan van Rijswijck. He was working as an engineer on his own account first within the Hanseatic League in the city of Lüneburg, but in his lifetime he is known to have worked on ten works including the waterway in Bremen. He worked on the fortifications in Hamburg from 1615 to 1625 on what became known as ''Bastion Henricus'' as well as work in Böhlau and Cologne. His work in Hamburg introduced a second layer to the fortifications to protect against the Thirty Years War. Cholera
Cholera is an infection of the small intestine by some strains of the bacterium ''Vibrio cholerae''. Symptoms may range from none, to mild, to severe. The classic symptom is large amounts of watery diarrhea that lasts a few days. Vomiting and muscle cramps may also occur. Diarrhea can be so severe that it leads within hours to severe dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. This may result in sunken eyes, cold skin, decreased skin elasticity, and wrinkling of the hands and feet. Dehydration can cause the skin to turn bluish. Symptoms start two hours to five days after exposure. Cholera is caused by a number of types of ''Vibrio cholerae'', with some types producing more severe disease than others.
