Spirits Of The Jaguar
''Spirits of the Jaguar'' is a BBC nature documentary which aired on BBC Two in 1996. Narrated by Alan Ereira and created by Paul Reddish, the series documents the indigenous civilisations of Latin America and the Caribbean, and the relationship with the animals around them. It was part of the BBC Natural History Unit's ''Continents'' block. Episodes 1. The Forging of A New World This episode talks about the volcanic origins of the Latin American region, and also looks at the evolution of its wildlife. 2. Forests of the Maya This episode looks at the Maya civilization of southern Mexico and Central America and the animals which featured in their mythology, notably the jaguar. 3. The Aztecs () were a Mesoamerican culture that flourished in central Mexico in the post-classic period from 1300 to 1521.
