Spirit Of Purity
''Spirit of Purity'' is the debut album by the Swedish Christian black metal band Sanctifica, released on Little Rose Productions and Rivel Records in March 2000. With this album the band established itself as one of the leading Christian black metal bands of the early 2000s (decade), representing technical and chaotic style. Considered by many as the band's best album, ''Spirit of Purity'' was well received by both the press and fans, although the style quickly earned Sanctifica their "Emperor An emperor (from la, imperator, via fro, empereor) is a monarch, and usually the sovereignty, sovereign ruler of an empire or another type of imperial realm. Empress, the female equivalent, may indicate an emperor's wife (empress consort), ... clone" label, which the band later tried to escape by switching the music style. Music videos were shot for the song"The Dark Desires"an"Spirit of Purity,"released on the video compilation ''Power from the Sky''. Recording With the line up ...

Sanctifica
Sanctifica was a Swedish unblack metal band, formed in 1996, and disbanded in 2003. After releasing their EP, ''In the Bleak Midwinter'', in 1997, they were considered to be one of the leading modern Christian black metal bands in the early 2000s with their album ''Spirit of Purity''. Signed to Swedish Rivel Records and Finnish Little Rose Productions, the band played progressive death metal on their second and last album ''Negative B''. They did a tour through Scandinavia to support that album, performing at some of the best known rock clubs in big cities. Hubertus Liljegren went to join Crimson Moonlight, while the rest formed a rock group called As a Reminder. History In 1996 Hubertus Liljegren (guitars) and Daniel Thelin (drums) formed Sanctifica, and the band were joined by Alexander Orest (bass). Initially, the band played death metal, until Alexander left the bass guitar for Jonathan Jansson and began playing keyboards, taking the sound more towards black metal. During lat ...

Unblack Metal
Unblack metal (also known as Christian black metal) is a religious philosophy and subgenre within black metal, inheriting several characteristics of it, such as the melody, the lyrics and the aesthetics ( corpse paint), whose artists either directly oppose the Satanism prevalent in most black metal, or promote Christianity in their lyrics and imagery. Unblack metal artists are controversial within the black metal subculture, because black metal's pioneers, especially those of the Second Wave, were anti-Christian. It is also suggested that Christianity contradicts black metal's dark nature and the individualistic and misanthropic ideals of many bands. The exact beginning of the unblack metal movement is disputed. The Australian band Horde's 1994 studio album ''Hellig Usvart'' brought the concept and the term ''holy unblack metal'' (a word play on Darkthrone's slogan "unholy black metal" used on the albums ''A Blaze in the Northern Sky'' and ''Under a Funeral Moon'') to media atte ...

In The Bleak Midwinter (album)
"In the Bleak Midwinter" is a poem by the English poet Christina Rossetti, commonly performed as a Christmas carol. The poem was published, under the title "A Christmas Carol", in the January 1872 issue of ''Scribner's Monthly,'' and was first collected in book form in ''Goblin Market, The Prince's Progress and Other Poems'' (Macmillan, 1875). In 1906, the composer Gustav Holst composed a setting of Rossetti's words (titled "Cranham") in ''The English Hymnal'' which is sung throughout the world. An anthem setting by Harold Darke composed in 1909 is also widely performed by choirs, and was named the best Christmas carol in a poll of some of the world's leading choirmasters and choral experts in 2008. Analysis In verse one, Rossetti describes the physical circumstances of the Incarnation in Bethlehem. In verse two, Rossetti contrasts Christ's first and second coming. The third verse dwells on Christ's birth and describes the simple surroundings, in a humble stable and watched by ...

Negative B
''Negative B'' is the second and last album by the Swedish band Sanctifica, released on Rivel Records in 2002. This album saw the band abandoning their previous black metal style for a more alternative, electronic, avantgarde, experimental, progressive death metal sound. The album received mixed reviews: some found the album too bizarre, unfocused and unbalanced, while others praised it for its unique style. Many fans of Sanctifica's old style were disappointed on the drastic style change, but ''Negative B'' brought the band a new group of fans from the progressive metal crowd. Recording Presumably tired of their "Emperor clone" label, by 2001 the band left black metal and evolved to a more experimental, progressive death metal act. Later that year, Sanctifica entered a studio to record ''Negative B''. Produced by the guitar virtuoso Carl Johan Grimmark, ''Negative B'' turned out to be a concept album about social issues. The band recorded the album in 4 months and released it in ...

Emperor (band)
Emperor is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1991, regarded as highly influential by critics and emerging black metal bands. The group split up in 2001, but reunited from 2005 to 2007 for a few festival dates and brief US tours, and again reunited in 2013 to 2014. Emperor reformed for the third time in 2016. The group was founded by Ihsahn (guitar/vocal) and Samoth (then, drums). History Early career and ''In the Nightside Eclipse'' (1991–1995) In their youth, Ihsahn and Samoth met at a rock music seminar. The two young men began playing together under various names; first Dark Device, then Xerasia, then Embryonic. The group soon evolved into the now well-known band Thou Shalt Suffer. Soon, however, Samoth began to write music outside of Thou Shalt Suffer, and together with Ihsahn and a new bass player called Mortiis (later of his own eponymous band Mortiis), Emperor was formed. After a short while together, the band released a demo entitled ''Wrath of the Tyrant''. It qu ...
