Michael Spinks
Michael Spinks (born July 13, 1956) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1977 to 1988. He held world championships in two weight classes, including the undisputed light heavyweight title from 1983 to 1985, and the lineal heavyweight title from 1985 to 1988. As an amateur he won a gold medal in the middleweight division at the 1976 Summer Olympics. Nicknamed "Jinx", which spawned the nickname of his straight right hand, "The Spinks Jinx", Spinks is the brother of former world heavyweight champion Leon Spinks, and uncle of Cory Spinks, a former welterweight and light middleweight champion. Cory Spinks (born Cory Calvin; February 20, 1978) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1997 to 2013. He held multiple world championships in two weight classes, including the undisputed welterweight title from 2003 to 2005, and the IBF junior middleweight title twice between 2006 and 2010. Additionally, he challenged once for the lineal middleweight title in 2007. Nicola "Nicky" Spinks (born 22 April 1967) is a British long-distance runner, specialising in fell running, who set women's records for the major fell-running challenges the Ramsay Round, the Paddy Buckley Round and the Bob Graham Round. She held the women's records for all three Rounds simultaneously until 2016, and is the holder of the overall record for the double Bob Graham Round and the only person ever to complete doubles of the other two Rounds. Tommy Spinks (born 22 April 1994 in Edinburgh, Scotland) is a Scotland, Scottish rugby union player who plays for Glasgow Hawks RFC, Glasgow Hawks at the Flanker (rugby union), Flanker or Lock (rugby union), Lock positions. Spinks states his preferred position is openside flanker. Rugby Union career Amateur career Spinks started playing mini rugby when he was 5 years old. By his fourth year of high school at North Berwick he played for the 1st XV. The rugby coach at Fettes College got Spinks a scholarship there. Spinks is primarily a portrait artist of heirloom, family, corporate, religious, and bridal portraits, but also a landscape and still life painter. Terence "Terry" George Spinks MBE (28 February 1938 – 26 April 2012) was a boxer from Great Britain, who won the gold medal in the flyweight division (– 51 kg) at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia. Joseph S. Spinks (born June 20, 1972) is an American-Dutch retired basketball player and coach. He played eight seasons for ABC Amsterdam in the Netherlands and is considered one of the best players to have played in the Eredivisie. Alfred Spinks (25 February 1917 – 11 February 1982), was a British chemist and biologist. Biography Alfred Spinks was the only child of Alfred Robert Spinks, manager of a Littleport brewery, and Ruth (née Harley). He was born in Littleport on 25 February 1917. In 1932 Spinks won a scholarship to Soham Grammar School. From there he won an Isle of Ely County Major Scholarship and entered University College, Nottingham. In 1938 he gained the highest chemistry marks of any candidate in the University of London BSc external degree examination. He went to Imperial College, where he worked with A. W. Johnson, under Ian Heilbron, on vitamin A synthesis. He was awarded his PhD in 1940. That year, both Spinks and Johnson were offered jobs at the Dyestuffs Division of ICI at Blackley. John Frederick Spinks (28 November 1953 − 9 July 2014) was an English songwriter and musician. He was best known as the guitarist and songwriter for The Outfield. Early life and career John Spinks was born on the East End of London in November 1953. Spinks, Tony Lewis, and Alan Jackman first played together in the 1970s band Sirius B. After rehearsing for six months, the group disbanded due to the advent of punk rock. Scipio Ronald Spinks (born July 12, 1947) is a former right handed pitcher in Major League Baseball who played from 1969 through 1973 for the Houston Astros and St. Louis Cardinals. Life and sports Born in Chicago, Illinois, Spinks was a promising prospect until injuries prematurely ended his career. Spinks graduated from Harlan High School in Chicago and was drafted by the Astros organization in 1966. Gracie Spinks was a lifeguard from Old Whittington whom, it is suspected, was murdered by a former colleague. Background Spinks was a swimming instructor and lifeguard but had been working as a warehouse operative at the time of her death. She was a keen horse rider and kept a horse at Blue Lodge Farm in Duckmanton. In February 2021 she had reported a former colleague, Michael Sellers, to police for stalking. He had been her supervisor at a warehouse where she once worked. Discovery Spinks was last seen alive by her mother at 7:30am on 18 June 2021, when she left home to tend to her horse. Darrell Spinks (born July 24, 1973) is an American former professional boxing, boxer.
