"Spin Spin Sugar" is a song by English electronic band Sneaker Pimps, released in March 1997 as the fourth single from their debut studio album, ''Becoming X'' (1996). The album version is in true Sneaker Pimps style and format; there is a driving bass line produced by a synthesizer keyboard. As the bass drives, there is a second synth loop playing above. Kelli Dayton provides the vocals. "Spin Spin Sugar" was further popularized in a speed garage remix by Armand van Helden, which is sometimes credited with breaking speed garage into the mainstream for the first time. Redbull.com included the remix in their "Honorable mentions" list of "underground UK garage classics that still sound fresh today". Sneaker Pimps
Sneaker Pimps are an English electronic music band, formed in Hartlepool in 1994. They are best known for their debut album, ''Becoming X'' (1996), and its singles " 6 Underground" and "Spin Spin Sugar". The band takes its name from an article the Beastie Boys published in their ''Grand Royal'' magazine about a man they hired to track down classic sneakers. The band was founded by electronic musician Liam Howe and guitarist Chris Corner. They later recruited Kelli Ali (then known as Kelli Dayton) as lead singer, plus guitarist Joe Wilson and drummer Dave Westlake as backup musicians. After ''Becoming X'', the band decided to replace Ali with Corner on vocals. Wilson and Westlake departed in 2002. In 2016 Howe and Corner revived the group after a lengthy hiatus. Fire Island are an English house music duo, made up of Record producer, producers and remixers Pete Heller and Terry Farley. Both are prolific musicians who have an extensive list of remixes to their credit, using the Fire Island moniker and also being billed as Heller & Farley Project, Roach Motel or Farley & Heller. As Fire Island, they hit number one on the United States, US Hot Dance Club Songs, Hot Dance Music/Club Play Record chart, chart in 1998 with "Shout to the Top!, Shout to the Top", a song originally recorded by the Style Council in 1984 and with lead vocals supplied by Loleatta Holloway. The ''Billboard'' Hot 100 is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. The weekly tracking period for sales was initially Monday to Sunday when Nielsen started tracking sales in 1991, but was changed to Friday to Thursday in July 2015. This tracking period also applies to compiling online streaming data.
