Frank Morrison Spillane (; March 9, 1918July 17, 2006), better known as Mickey Spillane, was an American crime novelist, whose stories often feature his signature detective character, Mike Hammer (character), Mike Hammer. More than 225 million copies of his books have sold internationally. Spillane was also an occasional actor, once even playing Hammer himself. ''Spillane'' is an album by American composer and saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist John Zorn, composed of three "file-card pieces", as well as a work for voice, string quartet and turntables. It is named after mystery writer Mickey Spillane, whose novels featuring detective Mike Hammer provided the basis for the album's title track. Zorn wrote ''Spillane'' on a series of index cards, each containing an outline or instruction for the musicians that was intended to evoke scenes from one of Spillane's novels. Tom Spillane
Tom Spillane (born 1962) was a Gaelic footballer who played for Templenoe and the Kerry county team in the 1980s. Career Maura Spillane gave birth to Tom in Templenoe, near Kenmare, County Kerry in 1962. He was — along with his brothers Pat and Mick — a key member of the successful Kerry Gaelic football teams of the 1980s. He won an All-Ireland Minor Football Championship medal in 1980 before first breaking into the county panel in 1981. He played with Kerry for the next eleven seasons, winning four All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medals, five Munster Senior Football Championship medals, one Kerry Senior Football Championship and three All Stars. Robert Spillane (born December 14, 1995) is an American football linebacker for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Western Michigan. Early years Spillane was born and grew up in Oak Park, Illinois and attended Fenwick High School. He played both running back and linebacker for the football team at Fenwick. He was rated a three-star recruit by several recruiting services and was originally recruited to play running back in college when he committed to play at Western Michigan. Patrick Gerard Spillane (born 1 December 1955), better known as Pat Spillane, is an Irish former Gaelic football pundit and player. Nicole Spillane (born 2 January 1988) is a French and Irish applied mathematician. She is a researcher with the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) in France, where she works in the center for applied mathematics of the École Polytechnique. Her research concerns parallel algorithms for solving large systems of linear equations. Spillane studied for an engineering diploma at the École des ponts ParisTech from 2006 to 2010. Michael J. Spillane (July 13, 1933 – May 13, 1977) was an Irish-American mobster who controlled Hell's Kitchen in New York in the 1960s and 1970s. Spillane, the so-called “Gentleman Gangster", was a marked contrast to the violent Westies mob members who succeeded him in Hell's Kitchen. Life Spillane was born on July 13, 1933, to Michael Anthony Spillane and Margaret Curran. At 16 or 17, he attempted to rob a movie theater, but was shot by a police officer. He spent four years in prison. After his release from prison, Spillane started as a numbers runner for various organized crime figures in Hell's Kitchen. Michael Spillane (footballer)
Michael Edward Spillane (born 23 March 1989) is a former professional footballer, who played as a defender, currently assistant manager at Chelmsford City. Born in Jersey, he represented the Republic of Ireland at youth international level. Club career Spillane signed a full, professional, three-year contract with Norwich City on 30 June 2006. He had already made his first team debut by this time against West Ham United in the 2006 FA Cup third round, making him the youngest ever player for Norwich City to play in the FA Cup. Spillane was given his first extended run in the Norwich side by manager Peter Grant towards the end of the 2006–07 season.
