Annemarie Spilker
Annemarie Spilker (born 1980, Hillegom) is a Dutch photographer best known for her self-portraits and landscapes. Spilker attended The Photography Academy in Amsterdam where she graduated cum laude in 2003, with the series self-portraits "Searching to fill the emptiness..." Spilker's photography focuses on penetrating self-portraits with an uncomfortable and confronting atmosphere, in which she searched for the hidden places in her own personality. Her landscapes appear almost unreal due to the unprecedented silence and timelessness. Since college, Spilker has worked mainly with a medium format Hasselblad, the reason most of her images are square. Sometimes she works with antique medium format cameras from around 1930–1940. Hendrik Storstein Spilker (born 1965) is a Norwegian sociologist and media studies scholar. He is a professor of media and technology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Career He earned his cand.polit. degree at NTNU in 1998 and his doctoral degree in sociology at the same institution in 2005, with a dissertation on the development of commercial Internet services in Norway from 1997. He was a postdoctoral researcher at NTNU from 2005 to 2007, when he became a tenured associate professor of sociology at NTNU. He was later promoted to full professor of media and technology. James Spilker
James Julius Spilker Jr. (August 4, 1933 – September 24, 2019) was an American engineer and a consulting professor in the Aeronautics and Astronautics Department at Stanford University. He was one of the principal architects of the Global Positioning System (GPS). He was a co-founder of the space communications company Stanford Telecommunications, and was most recently executive chairman of AOSense Inc., Sunnyvale, CA. Education After graduating high school and working for awhile, Spilker began attending college at the College of Marin, a community college in Kentfield, California, primarily for financial reasons. Upon receiving scholarship aid from Stanford University and Hewlett-Packard, he was able to transfer to Stanford, which he attended for 5 years and received a B.S. degree in 1955, an M.S. degree in 1956, and a Ph.D. in 1958, all in Electrical Engineering. Linda Spilker
Linda Spilker is an American planetary scientist who served as the project scientist for the Cassini mission exploring the planet Saturn. Her research interests include the evolution and dynamics of Saturn's rings. She is presently the Project Scientist for the Voyager missions. Career Spilker received a B.A.in Physics from California State University, Fullerton in 1977 and an M.S. in Physics from California State University, Los Angeles in 1983. She obtained a Ph.D. in Geophysics and Space Physics from UCLA in 1992. She joined the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in 1977, initially working on the Voyager missions that were launched the same year. She became a Cassini mission scientist in 1990. In 1997, she was the editor of a NASA publication that summarizes the mission's legacy.
