Spikers' Turf (volleyball League)
The Spikers' Turf is a men's semi-professional volleyball league in the Philippines associated with the Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. (Sports Vision). History The league had its beginnings in 2014, when the Shakey's V-League introduced a men's division during its 21st conference. The following year, Sports Vision decided to spin-off the men's division as a separate league, giving birth to the Spikers' Turf. In late-2016, Sports Vision announced that the league be merged back in the 2017 season with the Shakey's V-League (which was renamed as the Premier Volleyball League; PVL). The men's division in the PVL ended with the 2018 PVL Collegiate Conference as its final tournament. The Spikers' Turf was revived on October 6, 2018 and was reestablished as a separate legal entity from the PVL. Shakey's V-League 11th Season Reinforced Open Conference
The Shakey's V-League 11th Season: Reinforced Open Conference was the 21st conference of Shakey's V-League which began on October 5, 2014. The Cagayan Valley Lady Rising Suns beat the Philippine Army Lady Troopers in two games. In the inaugural men's division, Instituto Estetico Manila Phoenix Volley Masters defeated Systema Active Smashers in 3 games. Tournament format Preliminaries Four (4) competing teams in both men's and women's division in a double round robin format. Finals Rank 1 team battles Rank 2 team for GOLD, and Rank 3 team battles Rank 4 team for BRONZE. The 2023 Spikers' Turf Open Conference was the sixteenth conference and the start of the sixth season of the Spikers' Turf. The tournament began on January 22, 2023, with a total of eleven teams, including four new teams at the Paco Arena, Paco, Manila. This is the first conference of the league to use a Video Challenge. Dante Alinsunurin
Dante Alinsunurin is a Filipino volleyball coach. Career NU Bulldogs Alinsunurin has coached in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), mentoring the National University (NU) Bulldogs men's volleyball team which won back-to-back titles over FEU in 2019 and Ateneo in 2018. The Bulldogs, under his watch, also took part at the 2018 ASEAN University Games in Myanmar and clinched a gold medal for the Philippines. Club Alinsunurin has participated at the Spikers' Turf as coach. He guided the Megabuilders Volley Bolts in 2017. He also coached Go for Gold Air Force team which finished as runners-up at the 2021 PNVF Champions League. Esmilzo Joner "Ish" Polvorosa (born March 22, 1997) is a Filipino volleyball player who plays for the Philippine national team. Personal life Polvorosa was born and raised in Imus, Cavite. He graduated as second honorable mention at Anabu II Elementary School and studied middle school at Unida Christian Colleges. He took up AB European Studies at Ateneo de Manila University where he played in the Ateneo Blue Eagles volleyball team. He joined the Cignal HD Spikers in 2017. In 2018, he was elected as SK Chairman for Barangay Anabu 2-B in Imus, Cavite. Polvorosa is also a member of the LGBTQ community.
