X-Statix are a team of mutant superheroes appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The team was specifically designed to be media superstars. The team, created by Peter Milligan and Mike Allred, first appears in ''X-Force'' #116 and originally assumed the moniker X-Force, taking the name of the more traditional superhero team, who appear in #117 (June 2001) claiming to be "the real X-Force". Publication history In 2001, the X-Men family of titles were being revamped by the newly appointed Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Joe Quesada. Michael Dalton "Mike" Allred (born 1962) is an American Comics artist, comic book artist and writer. He is most well known for his Alternative comics, independent comics creation Madman (Mike Allred character), Madman and for co-creating and drawing the comic book series iZombie (comic book), ''iZombie''. His work often draws upon pop art, as well as commercial and comic art of the 1950s and 1960s. Early life Michael Dalton Allred was born in 1962 in Roseburg, Oregon. His father, Dale Leroy Allred (May 20, 1926 – October 5, 2007), was born in Portland, Oregon. He was a psychologist and professor at Umpqua Community College and the University of Oregon, and received a Doctor of Philosophy in 1959 at Purdue University. ''Rogan Gosh'' is the title of a British comic book story written by Peter Milligan and illustrated by Brendan McCarthy. Originally serialised in the '' 2000 AD'' spin-off title ''Revolver'' in 1990, it was later collected into a single edition by the Vertigo imprint of DC Comics in 1994. The name is a play on rogan josh, an Kashmiri curry dish. Overview Rogan Gosh is the titular character for the stories, who is a time-traveller from the future. Described as an " Indian science fiction series", ''Rogan Gosh'' was one of the flagship stories in ''Revolver'' along with Grant Morrison's version of ''Dan Dare''. The story is an example of Milligan and McCarthy's post-modernist psychedelic style of storyline described by some readers as confusing or challenging. The Comics Code Authority (CCA) was formed in 1954 by the Comics Magazine Association of America as an alternative to government regulation. The CCA enabled comic publishers to self-regulate the content of American comic book, comic books in the United States.
