Ben Spijkers
Bernhard ("Ben") Hendrikus Martinus Spijkers (born 10 March 1961 in Nijmegen, Gelderland) is a retired judoka from the Netherlands, who represented his native country at three consecutive Summer Olympics (1984, 1988 and 1992). He won the bronze medal in the men's middleweight division (– 86 kg) in Seoul, South Korea (1988), alongside Akinobu Osako from Japan. In 1995, Spijkers tried his hand at mixed martial arts competition by competing in the World Combat Championship and Shooto events. Mixed martial arts career Spijkers had his MMA debut in the Japanese promotion Shooto against the veteran Erik Paulson. Cornered by Gerard Gordeau, Ben rushed Paulson through the fight with multiple takedown attempts, along with brawling style punches and some hip tosses which connected. __NOTOC__ Caspar Henricus Augustinus (Cas) Spijkers (12 January 1946 in Tilburg – 29 October 2011 in Oirschot) was a Dutch head chef and author of several cookbooks. He is also known for his cooking program . In 1984, the cooking of Spijkers earned restaurant De Swaen two Michelin stars. In 1980, Spijkers became head chef of De Swaen, resulting in a Michelin star in 1981. After Spijkers stepped back as head chef in 1998, the restaurant lost his star. After The Swaen "Princess Household Appliances BV" collaborated with Spijkers to promote its kitchen appliances. They also backed him for his "month restaurant" ''Chez Cas'' in "De Kersentuin" in Amsterdam in 2006. In 2007, Spijkers announced the '' Cas Spijkers Academie''. ''Spijkers v Gebroeders Benedik Abattoir CV'' (1986) C-24/85 is a Dutch and EU labour law case concerning transfers of undertakings, and the job security rights of employees. Facts Mr Spijkers worked for a slaughterhouse owned by Colaris in Ubach over Worms. They transferred the business to Benedik in December, and only he and another were not retained. Operations ceased in December 1982, and Colaris was insolvent by March 1983. Good will and customers had already disappeared. Attorney General Slynn gave an opinion before the court decision.
