Spetses Mini Marathon
The Spetses mini Marathon is an international sporting event held annually over three days on the island of Spetses Spetses ( el, Σπέτσες, grc, Πιτυούσσα "Pityussa", Arvanitika: Πετσε̱) is an upscale affluent island in Attica, Greece. It is included as one of the Saronic Islands. Until 1948, it was part of the old prefecture of Argolis ..., Greece. The event includes three foot races of 5, 10, and 25 km, and three open-water swimming races of 1.5 km, 3 km, and 5 km, as well as events for children. The event has been held every October since 2011, drawing over 5,000 competitors across the three days of races. The mini Marathon is open to all, regardless of amateur status, so long as participants are at least 18 years old and able to pay the registration fee. The island is now an independent municipality (pop. 4,027), with no internal boundaries within the municipality. The town of Spetses (pop. 4,001 in 2011) is the only large settlement on the island. The other settlements on the island are Moní Ayíon Pánton (pop. 0), Ligonéri (4), Ágioi Anárgyroi (18), Kouzoúnos (4). Poseidonion Grand Hotel
The Poseidonion Grand Hotel ( el, Ξενοδοχείο Ποσειδώνιο) is a luxury hotel on the island of Spetses, Greece. Each of the 55 rooms is decorated with a mix of antique and modern furniture with references to the colonial era. It is an example of Neoclassical architecture and was inspired by the InterContinental Carlton Cannes Hotel in Cannes and The Negresco in Nice. It was the first hotel in Greece to offer spa treatments, whereby four small pools were filled with warm water and sulphur in order for the treatments to take place.
