Spermworld
''Spermworld'' is an American documentary film directed by Lance Oppenheim that premiered on Hulu and FX in the United States on March 29, 2024. Spermworld follows the stories of three sperm donors and their recipients. Inspired by Nellie Bowles' article "The Sperm Kings Have a Problem: Too Much Demand" for the '' New York Times'', the documentary ventures into "spermworld", the unregulated online marketplaces where sperm donors connect with hopeful parents. Ari Nagel () is an American mathematics professor and a sperm donor who has fathered more than 165 children . He has been nicknamed the Sperminator or the Target Donor, after the American retail corporation in whose stores some of his artificial-insemination donations were performed. Early life Ari Nagel was born to an Orthodox Jewish family in Monsey, New York, as the fifth of seven children. He spent his childhood in Monsey, attending school at Yeshiva of Spring Valley and Yeshiva Shaarei Torah, and later studied at St. John's University in New York City. Nagel received a large monetary settlement from a motorcycle accident and traveled around the world, after which he became irreligious. He also studied at the London School of Economics. Lance Oppenheim (born January 26, 1996) is an American filmmaker, documentarian, and producer from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His work blends cinematic genres to explore the lives of people who create homes in unconventional spaces and places. His debut feature '' Some Kind of Heaven'' (2020) was an Official Selection at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. Life Oppenheim was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the son of attorneys Roy and Ellen Oppenheim, and raised in Southwest Ranches, Florida. Oppenheim attended Pine Crest School from 2010 to 2014. He graduated from Harvard University in 2019 with a degree in Visual and Environmental Studies. Sperm donation is the provision by a man of his sperm with the intention that it be used in the artificial insemination or other 'fertility treatment' of a woman or women who are not his sexual partners in order that they may become pregnant by him.
